Mildred the Cat … I’m running for President of the United States!

Hi everybody. It’s Mildred the Cat. I haven’t written in a long time but I feel I must write today. With my mom’s encouragement and full support, I have decided to run for President of these United States.
As my Mom put it, the pickings for President this year are at best horrid, I bring a lot to the table, and I am certainly more honorable, credible and qualified than the choices we have right now.
My qualifications:
1. Obviously, I’m for change – no more “same old.”
2. I would be the first female President.
3. I have great hair, it’s not orange and it’s all mine.
4. I am honest, don’t lie or insult, don’t have a checkered past, am not a bigot nor a racist and have mucho charisma.
5. For those looking at third party candidates, I also have no clue where Aleppo is. While not a pothead, I am a catnip head and willing to engage in wild, crazy behavior, even occasional brain flatulence, if that is what you’re looking for.
My platform:
1. A cat in every household.
2. A chicken in every pot.
3. Free feline healthcare including spaying and neutering.
4. Establishment of paid National Feline Recognition holiday.
5. Significant reduction in gazillion dollar deficit by accepting chicken treats as payment rather than drawing a salary.
So, there you have it. I’ll be holding some fundraisers, making some speeches, picking a VP running mate (I already have someone in mind), and hopefully making some television appearances.

Dearest Auntie Mildred the Cat,
I am sure you will make a purrfect president. You are the only candidate I've seen with any cat sense at all. I can't wait to cast my paw in the ballot box for our first feline president.

Hi dearest Huckie the Handsome! So glad to hear from you and I really appreciate your support in this. It's about time we felines take charge. The public is looking for change and we can offer change big time! My campaign is gathering momentum and I'm quite optimistic we can do this. Spread the word - Mildred the Cat for President!

I could have passed on my recommendations to all those out there as I am not from the USA but I see a racist streak in you. What is all this about just caring for your kind. Can you not think of humans as well?

Well, I guess this is a moot point now as I didn't win. But to clear things up, I am not a racist. Candidates have to start somewhere and I created what I considered a decent platform. The feline population has been a much-disparaged minority for centuries. I would have started with those issues and then moved on to human issues, depending on how humans responded to my initial platform, including their acceptance of feline equality and eventual feline superiority!

What a beautiful, precious cat! She looks a bit like my Squirt, who is my only male cat out of five. I know she said she has a running mate in mind but I think Squirt would be a great choice if she's not too locked into her choice. The only thing is, we'd have to work laser lights into the platform somehow...

Ideally, if you are elected, you will nap all the time and encourage Congress to do the same so that they will stop with making new laws just to keep themselves busy. We have too many already.

Oh Mildred, You are very brave, but are you sure you want all that work? I think you have to be very careful with emails and stuff. I am quite in agreement as to your manifesto, but I don't want a cat next door as it is my second home with Human 2, as you know. Chicken however, is an excellent currency and this should be encouraged. I will be following you, but as you know I am in the UK so they won't let me vote.
Anyway, I will be encouraging you from my now almost permanent place on the sofa.

Man, if cats could run for president Mildred would have my vote. Yeah she's a catnip addict and has no clue about Aleppo, but given this she's miles better than the chowderheads we've got as nominees.
