Haggis Pie.

I was a bad boy today but please don't tell my wife. Whilst she was in the dentist chair I was also in a chair. I was in a chair in a cafe and I ate a haggis pie. Not a big one. Just a small one. I didn't tell her and now I feel a bit guilty. I wasn't even hungry. Just fancied it. My weight has reduced because of her healthy eating plan and all her support and encouragement. 14 weeks on the bounce my blood sugar has been normal. 14 weeks on the bounce my weight has reduced. I am more active than I have been in years. I can even lay down in a bath and have a nice soak again. I am down to a 38 inch waste. Down from 46. Gluttony and being really lazy got me obese and she never nagged or moaned So why didn't I just tell her about the bloody pie? I feel like I cheated on her. I have to tell her. don't I ? Its not me eating the pie that will worry her its the fact I couldn't tell her I was going to the cafe. I knew I would. I knew she would be half an hour in the chair. Premeditated Pie Lol I went for my walk tonight and feel I walked the pie off. I'm not going to start over eating again. But could one sneaky pie be the start of a slippery slope? What do you think Its not all good , man

that haggis pie looks like what we call empanada, but when i checked the contents, it's more like dinuguan and bopis, savory dishes we eat with steamed rice. congratulations on your weight loss. your wife is amazing. i think it's better to tell her about the premeditated haggis pie and say you did try to walk it off. since you said she never nagged nor moaned about your weight gain, maybe she'll laugh at your sneakiness and be more attuned when she senses a slippery slope situation again.

Haggis is essentially sheep's guts. It looks bad but tastes so good. I have a problem. The spices in the Haggis have made my gout flare up. If I tell her about the pie whilst my foot is like this she will go nuts. She warns me constantly about the dangers of spicy food. She won't laugh. Actually she might cry. I hope I can walk on my foot at 12am when we get up. Its 5am now. I've taken ibuprofen and drank a lot of water. Should do the trick but this flare up iis bad. As for my weight loss I am pleased but I just wish I hadn't been so daft. If I had eaten just a normal meat pie I wouldn't have gout. Its almost got comedy value.

Food addiction is not a pretty thing. Honesty in all ways. Its not the pie. Its the dishonesty to self. My that pie looks tasty!!! When we visit Canada we pig out on their pasties. BUT that being said, I must tell you that I quit cold turkey on sugar about 2 months ago then about that time hubby decided he'd go vegetarian to combat his diabetes. I have not only quit sugar but also meat and most fat like cheese. And my weight is down. And each day I get up saying I want this and I want that and then I say God help me to get through to tasting real food like vegies and appreciating them.

Well done to you and your hubby. Food addiction is horrible. The pie was a good reminder to me to be more disciplined. I gave up booze 14 years ago and have never touched a drop since so I know I can beat the food thing as well. But this pie also showed me that I must take on board that spicy foods are a thing of the psst. It made my gout flare up. I can't walk. It might be Saturday before the swelling and pain subsides. II quit sugar as well. Never bothered with it again. But it was the guilt that got me most. When she realised I had gout again all she said was " tell me what you ate " To be fair she has only been sarcastic s wee bit. I asked for it.

@saulgoodman Do with food what you did with booze. The thing I super hate and can't get around is having to go to the grocery store for more food. So I walk into the store seeking solid, good food and to get it I have to walk around mountains and mountains of chips and sweets and fake crud that others seem to think of as something that belongs in their gut. Know that your eating that Haggis was more a smack aside your own head and not your wifes. And pray for me cause I do not intend to eat Halloween candy or Christmas candy or just name the holiday!!!! I am a very very good sugar cooky maker. According to the Twelve Steps I must change my way of being and basically me and work on another me. Wow is that the truth for me.

@sallypup Lifestyle and attitude change - that's what it is for me. Your hubby and you will do OK with the changes you make and so will I because I want to and have to. There will be slip ups along the way.

II will wait until the morning to tell her Patsie. My foot is in agony with gout. The pie would have caused it. I couldn't handle the rebuke just now. Hope by the morning the gout had gone. No way sm I admitting I was that silly.

@Hatley I've had some pain in my time but nothing as bad as gout. Its sore like toothache but it cramps and swells the feet and toes up. Can't walk at the moment. I hope your blood pH is back at normal. The ibuprofen plays havoc with my stomach. Stay well my friend and steer clear of spicy haggis pies

Don't be silly, one tiny pie is not going to get you in trouble. But tell her about it, if it makes you feel better. Good that you went for a walk.

@saulgoodman "My wife is now twice as kissed off with me." Is your wife pissed off or kissed off?

@marlina Well I typed in pissed and kissed appeared. Or maybe I typed in kissed but I meant pissed. But I saw kissed and thought that maybe kissed would do. Kissed or pissed neither would be missed as she is worried that my foot isn't any better than yesterday and the doctor said I would be up and about by now.

I'd've gone for steak mince and skirlie, given the option. The haggis can bite back, as you found.

It is ok to have a cheat meal sometimes. You just have to eat in moderation. How about you both have cheat meals sometimes together.

I think you can tell her and she will understand . Just do some vigorous walking perhaps to burn those calories from the haggis pie . They seem so delicious . What are they made of ? Here , we call that empanada .

Made from sheep's guts and offal. Vigorous walking is not happening for a few days. I will be lucky if I am walking again over the weekend. For an explanation of why you can have a read of some of my replies further up the page. In a bit of pain just now. Going back to bed.

Aye but you would be able to walk and not be bothered with gout. The pain is off the scale. Been so complacent that I have no ibuprofen or paracetamol. Thought getting the weight off would ease pressure on my joints. Thought as my eating habits have improved so much I could have the odd spicy treat. So I had to tell her when she saw the swelling on my toes and ankles. Talk about lectures. I feel like a really naught y child. And to all intents and purposes that's about right
