When it comes to health it's okay to put you first

So many times we let life carry us away. Away from family, friends, our beliefs. It's not that we mean for it to happen but with all the bills we have to pay, somehow we become the mindset, work comes first. How many of you have fallen to this mindset at some point in your life? Or maybe even now! Most of us often come to the realization this has happened and we refocus our life. Sometimes it's a continued struggled to find that work/life balance, while others make a hard choice to choose a better, more simple way of life. Often seen it as giving up on the finer things. However, I don't miss the finer things because what's important to me is apart of my everyday life. My children, the work I enjoy, friends, hobbies, faith, and my health. In fact, if there was one thing I'd say one should really focus on I'd say it was one's health. If you are physically, mentally, or spiritually drained it affects everything else in your life. This is a photo I took yesterday while on one of my therapeutic walks. Therapeutic walking connects on all THREE levels. - Physically strengthens our bodies from any injuries and maintains health. - Mentally releases stress and relaxes us. - Spiritually allows for inner growth, a oneness with God and nature. That saying, "Walk it off".. Is for profound a statement than one can imagine.

I had this sort of thing smack me aside the head, I have to take care of me now. not us. there is no more us, I wish I hadnt lost the ME in all of that, the last decade, but what is over is over, through no decision of mine, no action of mine. So now it's time to handle me

@WendySpickerman pretty much, I really have no choice in this. I get to start over, alone, when I thought I'd still be walking along with my soon to be x. he made the choices he made, I didnt make him. but he chose for both of us. I can be bitter, or I can try to move on and live on.

I like to walk, I walk every day, even in winter when it's cold outside. It's my favorite exercise.

So glad to hear it, Anna. How far do you normally go or do you change it up?

@WendySpickerman My daily walk is to go to collect my snail mail to the post office, it's a 6 miles round trip back. I can walk more if the day is nice, just for pleasure.

I agree, walking is so good for us and even more so when it brings us closer to God.

Yes, my Sunday walks I keep just for that reason and it really helps me feel connected to God and with tough decision making, Vicki.

You seem to have a wonderful place to walk wherever you are...we have to visit gardens here to get anything close to this view. I agree with your post though...all about priorities.

Yes, I am lucky enough to find some really nice places to walk. I think that helps make it such a delight.
