The ugliness of beauty. The beauty of ugliness

We can all look like this at times, to someone else, and even to ourselves

Oneness looks at itself, and sees you and me. The repugnantly looking man looked at himself in the mirror, and the first time that he looked, he saw only ugliness, but on his second look, he looked past his outerness, and he saw something else. What did he see, he saw you, and he saw me. We all belong in each other, we are all one in God. Do you agree?

If I smile and look at myself in the mirror I can see beauty .If I am upset and look at myself in the mirror now.I find ugliness.

Very true, we each carry both traits within us rising to the surface at different times. I think in a way its related to how much we are being acceptive, and loving, or hateful, and non-acceptive. We can only feel the full power of God's oneness once more again, when we reconnect ourselves to every other part of God by loving it, and so we can then become one with all again, and so function as God's oneness operating through ourselves. This is in contrast rather than to us trying to be our own separate selves within God by us usurping some of his power, and then holding onto it to try to maintain this isolated and separated existence, and so in this way, we are trying to achieve our own separate outcomes, or goals. We have usually left off following his plan for our lives when we do this. In other words, on our own, we tend to look ugly, because we are not living from the full beauty of God within us. Living totally only from God's love, we would always shine forth with his beauty too, if we could fully do that.

We rise in consciousness when we look beyond physical appearance to perceive inner beauty. Sadly, there is too much hype on outer appearance to an extent we even tend to hate ourselves especially as we get older. We try to avoid stating our age even so as not to be judged or compartmentalized. That attitude makes it a booming business for beauty saloons in the losing battle to look younger! I see everything as just part of creation - there is beauty in diversity. There should be underlying unity in diversity so that we help those who are physically challenged as the right thing to do - siva

There really are many fine line distinctions existing here though. On the one hand, the issues with outer discrimination, from racial discrimination, to even discriminating against fat people, political correctness gone to an extreme. On the other hand, individually we are discriminating within ourselves, whenever we concern ourselves too much by following the hype about our outer appearance. As you always says, balance is the key here.

@innertalks We can have a discerning mind for progress and distinctions we see should be taken positively. They are there for a purpose but generally some tend to look down upon others when they are a bit different. If we realize they are part of god's creation we should be put in our place. The boot is then on the other foot; the problem is then in us! siva
