Deep joy! My favourite, the Blue Pig was still there. The doors were locked, but it was a going concern. Hooray, the old Tudor building was serving as intended. While taking photographs, there was loud click and the door swung open. Well, you don't need to tell me twice! I had a half of Timothy Taylor's most excellent Landlord bitter. So excellent that I had the other half, not something I do very often these days. The interior had changed very little, only the large collection of tankards that hung from the bar and other ceiling locations were gone. While happy to stay there, I made a move towards The Beehive and was delighted to see it was not only still there, but open as well. The Beehive, which has been there since the 16th century, hadn't changed much and I had a half of a locally brewed bitter. Nice to be back and visited these old pubs and very good to see them still doing what they do best. Thank you for the link, I love those old buildings and now I am going to look more photos. Some buildings must be protected and they should never been changed.

Glad to hear that these pubs are still open in a time when so many have closed. My wife and I made a list of a few pubs we went to when we first met and sadly only one or two are still actually pubs. We used to go from pub to pub along the Quay but now only two remain. In the 80,s and 90,s and before there would gave been maybe 12 in that half mile or so stretch. The two or 3 in the city I used to like are gone as well. Looked inside a few and most were basically empty. Younger people seem to favour a different kind of establishment I wouldn't refer to as a pub. Stopped drinking 14 years ago. Maybe its because of people like me that so many gave closed - and maybe also because some charge £4 for a pint of dubious looking lager.

Yes, pubs do seem to be closing quickly. What with the prices and for those that smoke having to go outside, I suppose it ain't too surprising.
