Are you.....Alex? Andy? Albert? Erm... Sorry, I forgot your name...

I used to be a Salesperson. A good salesperson is supposed to remember and know his/her customers well... And that definitely starts with remembering a person's name. Actually, I am not quite good with names.... But I survived... Cos I would start greeting very bubbly and give a praise about the things the customer wear, etc to bring away the fact that I have totally forgotten his/her name. I only remember the face... And we start talking and at the back of my mind still struggling hard to remember the name...NAME, NAME, what's his/her name? Then I will start to panick... and come up with another trick... "Mr/ Ms Customer, I need to ensure that I have your contact in my phonebook..." *pass the phone to the customer for him or her to key* "accidentally" press "dial" button... *Ting!!!* (oh....now I remember... Alex!) Only after that, I will start to address him as "Alex".. and of course, I have lots of tricks up my sleeves, the above is only an example.. Image Credit: Google Images

Many people suffer from this. My husband hasn't got a good memory for names, either, but remembers all faces.

Actually if he remembers the faces, then still not as bad as forgetting both the name and the face...

Alice wears a red dress. I don't how they remember such things. They must have crowded brains.

Good job on remembering names or trying to remember them. I'm awful at remembering names, sometimes it's like I forgot my own name.

@XinfulThotz Well my names so common that when growing up when people would say my name I didn't know if they were speaking to me or not.

i used to be part of a retention team. it is important to remember their names, it's a plus factor. the only way for me to remember it is to keep using it throughout the conversation.

My Dad is absolutely horrible with names. Either he will completely forget the names or he will mess up the pronunciation so badly! LOL! He always pronounce "U" sound as "Juu" Now any name with that sound in it is screwed when he says it.

So now I know that I am not alone in having difficulty to remember names. I can remember the face but not the name.

"Practice makes perfect." Sure; there are all sorts of ways to practice, but those are like 'fingerprints' (maybe not 'infinitely individualized,' but generally personalized for each person who uses it).

I think there must be a formula somewhere...to match names to faces...
