Have You Ever Seen A Broadway Show?

I have never seen a Broadway show in New York City. However, I did see a show that was once on Broadway, in a Chicago theater years ago. The company I worked for gave a FREE trip to Chicago to the Top Ten recruiters and I earned the trip. The company literally rolled out a "red carpet" for us when we arrived at the Home Office. They wined and dined us and took us to this "Broadway" Show. It was a fabulous trip. The name of the show was: “A Chorus Line.” At one time it was the longest running Broadway show, until beaten by “CATS.” I was reading something this week about Broadway shows and learned that the Broadway musical (Rodgers and Hammerstein’s) “Oklahoma” opened on Broadway in 1943. The Broadway show (Tennessee Williams’) “The Glass Menagerie” opened on Broadway in 1945. I really didn’t realize that those shows were on Broadway that many years ago. I’ve always wanted to see a Broadway show in NYC. I did get to see the Rockettes and other performances at Radio City Music Hall in New York. That was back in the late 60s. How about you?

I've never seen a stage production in the US, never mind New York. Seen productions on and off the West End. I do enjoy a good theatre trip

I'm sure there is much to see and do in London. I have been to London on my way to and from Spain. But, I didn't get to see much.

@Ronrybs I would have liked to have been able to do some sightseeing but didn't have time. We spent the night there in a hotel but it was too late to go out and see the town. Then, we left for the airport early in the morning.

I live in NYC, so I have seen a lot of Broadway shows. With the shows I will see in these coming months, I've seen around fifty or so. Good thing I can afford it right now.

It must be nice to be able to see so many Broadway shows. What is the usual ticket price?

@IreneVincent Tickets can go from like $39 to $149 or more. But the cheapest tickets will probably be last row of the last section of the theater like last row of mezzanine or last row of balcony (if there is one). I am part of a program called Audience Rewards. When you buy tickets and enter your Audience Rewards number you earn 2 showpoints for every dollar you spend. And sometimes you even get bonus points for buying tickets. That usually requires you to buy the most expensive tickets. Once you have enough points you can redeem them for Broadway show (or even Opera) tickets. You can opt to pay with showpoints only or use some showpoints and the rest in cash. Depends what options are available for a show you wanna see. I've seen a few shows already this way, some all with showpoints, others with showpoints + cash. Paid much less than would have paid had I gotten tickets the regular way. Love it!

I saw a broadway show once in the 80's. I didn't like it very much...I should have picked a different one, but I would attend another one, if I got the opportunity.

Which one did you see? I've never seen one on Broadway, but did see "A Chorus Line" in Chicago.

@IreneVincent I have never been to a Broadway show but I have been to West End shows in London. I have seen Wicked, Les Miserables, Mama Mia and a number of others. Yes they are all very entertaining.

Fantastic! I'm sure they were all very enjoyable. We have several Dinner Theaters around the Richmond area and while the actors are not famous, these shows have been very entertaining. I've seen several of them over the past years.

@amadeo It's really the only one I've ever seen and that was in Chicago, not on Broadway. I would have loved to have seen many other Broadway shows.

I have seen Equus with Anthony Perkins on Broadway. Here in LA, I saw touring productions of Coco with Katharine Hepburn and Applause with Lauren Bacall among others.

Very nice! Sounds wonderful. Now that I'm not traveling as much as I used to, I'm trying to see some LOCAL shows, museums and other attractions right here where I live. The summer was too hot for me to get out much but now that the weather has cooled down, I hope to visit a few places this Fall.
