The name sounds like it could belong to a wonderful summer afternoon Baked Pie - but its not.
"Milwaukee is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on Lake Michigan's western shore. It's known for its breweries, many of which offer tours chronicling its role in the beer industry. Overlooking the Menomonee River, the Harley-Davidson Museum displays classic motorcycles, including one of Elvis Presley’s. Nearby is the Milwaukee Public Museum, with its large-scale European Village and a recreation of old Milwaukee."
Its seems Lake Michigan keeps sending me these inviting attractions for which I am very pleased. Valarie decided, in her own words, to give me something to "munch" on, and so I have done. This morning started with all the 'googling' history of the Wisconsin area and Milwaukee in particular.
With History of Fur traders, French Missionaries, Beer Brewers from Germany that all lived in and about Green Bay have made up of such an interesting read. I had no idea there was a French/Indian War out there?
Interesting to read is that the name "Milwaukee" is derived from the Potawatomi language minwaking, or Ojibwe language ominowakiing, "Gathering place (by the water)"
Fascinating to find out all these facts in a short and interesting History lesson courtesy of the wonderful tool wikipedia .
The best thing is to already recognize a handwriting on a postcard before even reading the name, and to recognize the area and know who the card is from - I am just loving it.
Thank you @just4him - I love the postcard

And of course Milwaukee is the setting for 'Happy Days'.
When I was in Mexico back in March it happened to be during the American spring break. The hotel was apparently full of people from Wisconsin much to the disappointment of a woman from Seattle who seemed to think they were all common.
They seemed like good fun to me!!!

I thought you would love it and getting to know more about this wonderful state. Another interesting fact I didn't know about is how we became known as the Badger State - When the fur trade shifted to mining lead, miners dug holes and sheltered in them and became known as badgers, thus our nickname as the Badger State.

I've always wanted to go to Milwaukee. It's featured in a series of books I read as a kid. And then of course Laverne and Shirley lived there....
