Chief Running Buffalo speaks his mind from beyond

The great Chief Running Buffalo in better times, on his horse

I was talking to this great past American Indian chief recently in an inward discussion, meditatively. I asked him what really happened when the white man came to their country, and almost wiped them all out, what was the spiritual reason behind all of this I wondered, as I put this question to him. Here was his poignantly put reply: "All things happen, caused by something inwardly happening as well, of which the outer showing is just like the tip of an iceberg, or tipi, would be more apt a comparison here." "Inwardly, the Indian had lost heart because they could see the writing on the wall, (they had had such a prophesy about such a great monster with white eyes coming from the East to consume their land many moons before it actually happened)." "They knew that this so called progress must go on until the white man is also driven to his knees by himself oppressing himself, because by then there is no room (land) left for him to live upon, nor food and water to eat and drink, nor any air to breath." "Nothing will be left because of the desecration and over-mining of all natural resources, and they will destroy themselves, and then they will come to live in the inner worlds, where they will again see us Indians living there in peace, and hopefully they will then see that their way was really no way at all." Would you agree with this great American Indian Chief then, or not?

Native Americans were wise people. I agree with the Chief's analysis.

Thanks, yes I think they were a lot wiser, and other native people too I include in here, like the Australian Aboriginals, than the white settlers initially gave them credit for. In fact, they (the whites and their associated Government bodies) are still not respecting them enough, trying to invade their lands again and again to mine minerals and other resources, even today.

@ms1864 No, the early settlers were particularly brutal to the Aboriginals. They treated them as animals, and had "hunts" for them on a Sunday afternoon, where they would chase them on horseback, round them up, and kill them brutally. To them it was like the fox hunts that they had back home in England. They wiped out the whole community of Aboriginals in Tasmania. Not one survived their brutality. Their idea was to get rid of them altogether. It was good that they didn't achieve that over the rest of Australia. Australia is not peaceful, it's heritage is built from convicts, and criminals, and some of this is still in their psyche.

Yes, we do not seem to realise that every such loss leads to some type of imbalance, be that loss, animal, human, or vegetation.

@digiguru Yes, it even seems uncaring at times. The push is to expansion, building more and more urban development, more and more people on the Earth, and something has to give. We grow, and other life-forms diminish.

@innertalks you are so true. Human race has become so irresponsible towards life of other living being in the earth

I agree with the Chief's message. Plenty Coups, of the Crow, saw the white man's spotted buffalo replacing the Indian's brown buffalo during one of his vision quests in the Crazy Mountains of Montana. He and the elders determined that the white man was too great in numbers to fight. But I don't know if he and his elders sensed that the white man's materialism and disrespect for the land would lead to their destruction.

@Shiva49 Very well said siva, this is very true, money is the root of all evil.

It is indeed so sad to read about man's inhumanity to their own all through history and still continuing. We don't learn anything and understand the basic - history repeats itself - what we sow we reap. It is still might is right. The American Indian chief is spot on - our greed knows no bounds! We are on course to destroy not only us but take also others with us. We still get leaders who flex their muscles with "off with their heads" attitude. They tout power without wisdom - siva

Of course this happens even on an individual basis too, when husbands beat their wives for example, or treat them as less than humane. Even bosses at work can flex their muscles and force workers to dehumanise themselves. This happened here just recently with Apco, at least we saw it on the news here, I think it happened in China though from this report.
Shocking footage has emerged of more than 10 men forced to crawl on their knees after missing their company's targets. The group were seen in Baishan City, northern China's, on April 2.

@innertalks It was here in Australia too, here's the link: They were called sluggees, and had to have slug races on the floor forced onto their backs and crawling along like big slugs. Terrible, unbelievable stuff to happen in this day and age.
Former Appco workers Sonja Mamic and Toby Yates both started their working lives at Appco with optimism, but it did not last long.

@innertalks I saw another: I was also treated unfairly for no reason at times but times are changing, hopefully, though some still carry the vestiges of slavery in them! siva
Secret footage of a Chinese boss forcing female employees to kiss him on the lips has stirred a major uproar online.
