Raises...

I know I've had jobs that often times, I would be promoted and get a pay raise. My husband besides being promoted, since he works for the State (Game and Parks) he gets a raise as well. It got me to wondering has anyone that receives Social Security gotten a raise lately? I'll be lucky if the Social Security will be around by the time my husband and I retire!! Also, Social Security isn't "welfare." Social Security is taxes that are taken out of your check, suppose to be for when we retire. Kind of like a checking account for our older years. ~Peace~ photo courtesy of pixabay

I rarely get raises at my job. I have been there 30 years and I could probably could one on one hand the number of rauses I had had. My wage hasn't gone up much in that time. It is a small family owned business and raises aren't a priority for them. We may get one every five years or so.

I remember when I worked at a bar/restaurant. I was hired on as a dishwasher, then I worked prep cook. Then they needed some one to fill in waitress. At the time, the waitresses were only making about $2.50 an hour plus they're tips. Since I was already on their pay role, they had to pay me the $5.25 I was already making. Now, come to think of it, I never really got raises (other than promotion) but we got Christmas bonuses though!!

No, we haven't gotten a raise in a couple years I think. We should this year. I am thankful for my SSD.
