Success

Success isn't the same for everyone. What I consider successful you might not. But what I am talking about here is the Garage Sale - it was a huge success. Better than we thought it would be. While it began at 8:30 am we didn't have a customer until closer to 9:00, which didn't give us much hope LOL. Things improved greatly and little by little, $1 or $5 sales added up fast. We didn't have expensive items, the most expensive was $15 which did sell. Just as you never know what people will buy you never know how much they will talk....and talk they did. We chatted with several ladies who must have been compelled to spill their guts to us LOL. One woman went on about 20 minutes telling us everything that happened to her in the last two years - not a pretty story by the way. But we listened and nodded and I think she was happy to have someone new to tell her story to. We shut down a half hour early since traffic slowed to zero. It was then that I checked my messages and Facebook and found an offer of $250 for our mattress. The young couple is coming for it Monday. A successful day - albeit a tiring one. Photo is mine.

That is great you had a successful yard sale. The most I ever made was the one where I made around 45 dollars.

No ice cream maker - that we kept - in the photo is a small crock pot. My dental hygienist bought it - she said she makes a hot dip and that crock pot is perfect size.

when we had a garage sale, we were also surprised at the stuff people were interested in.

I'm glad it was a success for you ... it's funny how some people talk and talk and tell their life story to strangers...

I gave up yard sales (having them) years ago. too much work for too little money. I always had a yard sale before we moved and that was the only financialy profitable time for me to do it. (we moved often) Since we are not moving again, when i have stuff to get rid of I just donate it to a charity shop... However If I see a yard sale, i can't pass it up...I look for beads and candles only...Beads for my art and candles to melt to make firestarters for camping and our children's woodstoves and our fireplace.

We figure we've had eighteen or more over the years, probably far more than that LOL just put them out of our minds. I enjoy it - now we have a big box of stiff that will go to the local thrift shop tomorrow. We get a little money and so do they.

We once did a garage sale and sold for over $300.00 but it was all small amounts and tons of books and tons of work. Never again!

Congratulations, even the mattress is gone. It's wonderful to get rid of stuff we do not need and to make some money.

That is really great and it sounds like you did well. By the way did the women that talked for 20 minutes buy anything?
