Home Internet + Home Phone Bills keeps increasing $$$!! We are considering switching companies!

Being loyal customers, you would think you get a discount here/there, but nope! They want to add 'small fees' here & there so you won't notice then.. $5 increments.
... Later, the company will have a lawsuit in which they have to pay back to whoever sued 'but not to the customers' and it's a chain reaction.
My dad had enough and he called to make an appointment to switch over to a different company. The new company is offering more mbps for a much cheaper cost! A handful of my family members switched over and are loving the service! And after the year promotion, it will only increase by $10 and you'll be grandfathered!
Have you noticed any of your bills being a little more expensive than usually?

I have HughesNet for internet and it's $80 a month has been since I started with it, maybe less than a year ago. We have Verizon home phone system and bill is less than $25 a month - unlimited calls. Have had it for 4 or 5 years an price never went up.

@AbbyGreenhill Great to hear you don't experience any problems with price increases! At my parents' we do and my boyfriends' place his too! It is super annoying having to deal with these representatives!

We pay let for everything than you do for Internet! However, we know you have to be in the right place to get the deal we have. (Home phone, Internet, TV all in one)

@infatuatedbby When I used the Verizon JetPack my monthly costs went up monthly - last bill I had was over four hundred dollars...that's when I switched to HughesNet.

Electricity bills usually go up during summer and Christmas break when more people are at home.
Good luck in finding a new company that offers the same service for a lower cost.

Thank you! I hope to find a better service. All my relatives switched and experienced no problems + faster connection.

@cacay1 I doubt that the Philippines will be a free wi-fi zone knowing that companies are greedy for profit.

No, but I actively bully our ISP into discounting our service. When I can get service that's nearly 16 times faster for less per month, they kind of have to accept that we have no intention of paying full price.
Okay, I might just call up and nicely ask if they can cut the price because so-and-so is going to give us service for $x less per month...
We've finally hit the point where the service isn't quite matching our usage, though, so the other company will be getting our business as soon as I get a free installation promo from them. Funny how they always send them to us until we actually want to sign up... it's like they know!

My dad mentioned if they cannot match, he will be changing services but they didn't budge. I think it depends who talks.

@yukimori WHAT? Only 3mpbs?! We have 18 right now and it feels so slow!

@infatuatedbby It probably helps that they promised us three years ago they would be increasing our speeds to 40 Mbps, yet we're still at 3 Mbps.

I have a connection through my cable/internet company, so I got a sweet "employee" deal that has kept my fees very reasonable.

That is awesome! We've been with the same Internet provider & it isn't that great. We periodically get problems, automatically restarts so I guess it's time for a change!

@moffittjc Exactly! One time I had Internet not work for 3 days because that was the best time the techs could come out yet I am paying for monthly bill!

@infatuatedbby My internet was out this morning, and so I didn't get a chance to myLot before work. It made me think, shouldn't our monthly rate be pro-rated to account for any internet or cable outages? If they can't provide uninterrupted service, we should get a discount on our monthly bill to account for the amount of time the internet/cable was out!

Our satelie company did it to us at least the one we had before the one we have now. We had Dish now we have Direct Tv. As for internet we have to suffer with what we get where we live because we can only get satelite internet some people can get unlimited but not us.

Your phone service is a good deal.
Are there any internet providers available you could switch to for a better service/cost?

A lot of Canadians have dropped their cable provider and opted for streaming only. You have to sometimes increase your internet speed and take an unlimited bandwidth package, but that still adds up to less then the cost of cable. Its something to consider, check out the cost of a streaming device and the increase in internet charges.

I never heard of streaming device. I don't have cable television, but instead of DSL we will be going for cable Internet (which is a lot faster.)

@infatuatedbby Streaming devices-android boxes as some refer to them as, are all the rage here in Canada. The way the law is worded, you can stream without it being a copyright infringement.

Yes, there are so many fees I don't even understand or if they're even supposed to be charged + included. When you call them, they're clueless as well.

Our connection isn't great. We have some problems in the past with them, but didn't want to deal with the hassle of transferring. But they keep raising the cost so we will switch over to cable. :)
It will be much faster than what we have DSL.

My internet company merged and rates went way up so I switched just before I moved. I ended up getting a TV bundle I didn't want in order to get the unlimited data, but at least with all three, it's still less than the other service.
