So I dislocated my shoulder on October 6th and went to the ER. (Old news right?) The ER doctor prescribed 18 Hydrocodone Acetaminophen 5-325 mg.(they call them 'Norcos') and I was to take them every four hours. So I went home and had my daughter fill the prescription. It was only 0.29 cents for 18 of them(cash cost was $24.69). I am feeling pain during the day but mostly at night when I am trying to relax and find a comfortable position to sleep in. The Norcos really helps me relax. Then I asked my medical doctor for enough of them to see me through until I saw the orthopedic surgeon and that prescription was also only 0.29 cents. for 12 of them(cash cost was $18.99). A few days ago(October 22nd) I filled the prescription from the surgeon for 30 and it was only 0.68 cents(cash cost was $34.69). I don't understand how they can be so cheap. Not that I am against it at all mind you.
I have a good Part D prescription provider and appreciate how much they pay. I just think it rather bizarre that I don't even pay my regular co-pay for these pain meds. My regular co-pay is $2.95 for generic or $8.38 for name brand medication. I guess I could call them and see but, am just thinking out loud.

Ugh! They all need to be watched and something done about how they are priced.
