The day was dominated by an interview for a warehouse role in the time leading up to Christmas. The interviewer was keen to find out about me without telling me much about the job, though I found out in the end that it is a wine-supply company and staff are expected to work up to 60 hours a week on the national minimum wage, which sounds way too much to me.
I told the interviewer I had another temporary job lined up for the same period and she started demanding to know the wages an hours. She was shocked when I told her such information was none of her business. She asked me how she could work out a comparison of salaries for me unless I told her. I pointed out that if she told me what she was offering to pay I could do the comparisons myself.
I was then told that if they like me I’ll get an e-mail inviting me to an induction day at the company tomorrow. I have never had an interview this intrusive while disclosing so little about the employers before.
From there I headed to the last hour of the job club which seemed a haven of sanity after the earlier events.

Some people are just rude and unprofessional. Best of luck on your job hunting.
