Its arrived. A parcel containing some wonderful old postcards, some older than myself, full of beautiful photos of places I might never see and with History of travels I might never have the pleasure of enjoying. So many beautiful stamps! I thank you Malu for the great gift from your personal 'archive' to my 'current' as I have placed all the cards in a small collective tin to peruse through at my leisure over the next few weeks. I cannot speak German, but I have a handy German pocket dictionary to catch a few phrases on the cards which will help me enjoy the delights of the expressions and messages send with the postcards. Almost like I am the third party recipient! @MALUSE how splendid that you have share some part of your life and History with me. I am overwhelmed with the giving kindness you have shown me. I am keen to use some of the beautiful places in a post or two and I hope that you dont mind that. I noticed yesterday that my daughter was quite interested in them and took a few to look over and was very pleased to find one of Interlarken - a place we have visited on our travels. Such lovely gestures from such wonderful people I have met on myLot.

Many of the places depicted on those old postcards have probably changed vastly since, so those sights or views will no longer exist.

I am so excited about my parcel and its contents - the camel brought me much joy as do all the postcards I get. They are all black and white but clear as daylight in South Africa, not London. I will do a few posts on them as they are exceptional and very special with some stamps older than me!

@Inlemay They are certain to be black and white from years ago, but that just adds to the overall historic effect.

I was looking at the label and I recognized that it was from the Deutsche Post. The old postcards are a real treasure, so many places have changed. It's the same for the old photos, I have not enough of my native city in the 60's.
