Ramen noodles and I have a love-hate relationship. We go way back in college. I love how very convenient, easy and versatile it is. I can eat it plain, with chicken, spam, vegetables, even hot sauce. I hate how it makes me feel bloated though, and how I know it is high in sodium and calories.
Being a broke student that I was, my budgeting skills and priorities then were not really the best. I would totally sacrifice eating a pricey and/or decent meal as long as I can go with the gang in the movies. I would even skip buying food as long as I can pay for my fare to go to that outing. Being young, in relative good health and full of energy, I never seemed to mind. I do now, of course.
A few years back, I promised myself that I will never eat ramen noodles again. I was able to cut out all other junk food from my diet. I have never eaten fast food in years and honestly the greasy burgers make me physically ill. Ice cream was also gone, and so does soda. But with ramen noodles, I am fighting a battle that I do not think I will ever win.
I still indulge in my favorite not-so-healthy food once in a while. And because I am earning more now than when I was still in college, I can now buy those Japanese noodles which are almost organic and used to be way above my budget. I know I am sounding so shallow now, being happy that I can afford some high-quality ramen noodles, haha! But that is just me, finding happiness in small simple things, in small victories.

My grandson loves Ramen noodles. I get hungry for them from time to time. You can eat them with a salad or whatever you like. It is very economical. We all need to be able to eat a few things we like even though they aren't real healthy.

@Raine38 .....That is my belief as well. All things in moderation. Now I just have to work on the moderation. LOL

In the past I would eat ramen once every two weeks. Now not so often but once in awhile I do have the cravings and will eat it! I like how you can put anything in and it'll be tasty!

In the UK people tend to buy instant noodles that are a meal on a plate rather than the soup-like ramen. But these are also very cheap (19 pence a pack in some stores), very quick - and very salty. And also quite hard to resist.
If you have the option of healthier noodles and you still enjoy them then why not have them from time to time?
