First day of cyber school had me in tears

Today was my sons first day of cyber school. It started at 8:15 am. I am not a morning person!
The first thing was homeroom and that was fun. The kids had to do a writing prompt where they read a few sentences and came up with an ending for the story.
The first class of the day was History at 8:50 am.They interacted online with the students in their class while the teacher taught them about a time line.
The second class was Math at 10:30. They did a very easy lesson with multiplication.
The third class was ELA which I think is English and Language arts. This was at 11:20. The class was finishing the last few pages of the story Flat Stanley so we just watched to see how the class worked.
All of the teachers were very welcoming and nice.
All of that was done online then my son had to complete a History assigment, Spelling, Vocab and Math which took us until my daughter got home from school about a quarter after three. This is where I cried was trying to figure out what the homework was and where to complete it (online or in a book or what website).

I'm confused, is your son taking his classes online while your daughter goes to public school? If so, that is interesting, because other than the live sessions, my son doesn't have a schedule as long as he does 5 hours of work per day and get it done before 11:59 PM. We love it, it makes it easy for us to do things we otherwise couldn't do because he had to be in school.

My daughter is 12 and loves public school. My son is 9 and is doing the agora cyber school. How old is your son that might be why there is a difference.
They said when we signed up that at my sons age only 20% of the day would be online. Today 50% was classes online them there was some book work then other things he had to do online to complete homework etc. I would say 75% of his day was online.
We have to log in and watch and participate in all the online classes which were what was from 8:15-noon. I think the rest isnt due until 11:59 pm but I guess it depends on the teacher.
Things are very confusing. I emailed the parent coach and teacher a question around 1pm. It's 8pm and I haven't heard anything back yet so hopefully we did his assignments correctly.

@shaggin I hope you hear from them soon, I know how confusing it can be. I don't know if age has anything to do with it since my son is the youngest (he is 14, my daughter was 15 when she took a semester online) Of course not all his participation is online, like for art, he is offline when he works, then we scan it to send to his teacher.

@crazyhorseladycx We can only email them and I emailed her about 36 hours ago and haven't heard back. I figure if we aren't doing things right eventually she will get a hold of us.

The online classes all being bunched together from 8:15 to noon is a long time for him to sit there but I do like the interaction it helps keep his attention pretty good. He likes participating. Hopefully today goes smoother. I think we have the hang of how to do online assignments now.

That sounds very interesting. Did you find out how the homework was to be done?

There seems to be lots of education options nowadays. I'm sorry if it's causing you stress.
