As I don´t like to be disturbed by the TV when I´m mylotting, I have a show called "Say yes to the dress".
There, several brides with lots of movey go to try their bride´s dresses. The most unexpensive are around $2,500. I have seen many ove ten thousand dollars.
Wow, I say. This is the part of the US that people call "the american way of life". Not many brides in my country would spend that amount on a dress they will use just once.
As I have becone cynical, I wonder how many of these brides will stay married until "death does us apart".
When I got married, my mother made my dress. She was a wonderful seamstress and it fitted me to perfection. It was a short dress as I got married in the morming and there was a nice luncheon for the closest family and friends.
To the ladies here who have got married, how was your dress and wedding? How much did it last?
I lost my dress somewhere or turned it into something else. But I stayed married to my husband until death did us apart.

I wholly agree. And it looks more like a show that something done from the heart.

@marguicha Exactly. If they had to marry with no huge event and no big white dress you'd wonder if they'd still go through with it.

@JudyEv I feel that way too. The whole thing is quite shallow if you ask me.

I always dream to wear a beautiful yet simple wedding gown. My wedding is just a civil wedding, but we are hoping for a church wedding probably after 2 years.

And would you be willing to pay thousands of dollars for the gown?
