Many people in the USA are focused on the Presidential election today, of course. I just came across this small bit of political history.
Yesterday, on November 7th, 1916 there was an interesting “milestone” in the history of women in politics. That was 100 years ago. I just thought that was interesting.
Voters in Montana elected Jeanette Rankin to the House of Representatives. She became the FIRST woman ever elected to a seat in Congress.
I guess all these bits of history will strike a note as this election come to an end.

We have same first name. Many years back,we were required to look for a monicker that sounds like a American at work.I did not want to change my first name so I thought I will just change my last name. I thought Jeanette Burns sounds cool. But then, I researched and I found the name Jeanette Rankin. I used it as a monicker.

If memory serves, she was the only person in Congress to vote against going to war with Germany and Japan.
