My 91 years old father in-law is staying with us for 4 days this week .. We always bring him over to stay every two weeks so at least he can enjoy some home cooked food.. He often complain about how bad the meals they serve over there.. And plus I make sure that he gets his superjuice which he enjoys drinking..If he was only a few minutes drive aways we'd bring him over every other day to have his meals with us.. But his nursing home is one and a half hours drive away...
After breakfast today, he came into my studio and saw the bright material I was working on.. I told him it was mine to wear to cheer me up when I feel down or depressed..
He gave me a hug and said, "Why do you feel down for? you have family around" ...
I said , " I don't know why there are times when I feel down for no reason at all"..
He said, "Yes I know what you mean, I often feel depressed wondering what' there in this life for me, I lie on my bed and ask myself 'what now?' , 'will I die tomorrow?' , 'when will I die?' .. ah yes, those are the things that occupy my mind all the time?"....
I said, "We are all going to die unfortunately.. but we can still continue to enjoy what's left for us"..
He gave me a hug and off he went with my husband to the shopping mall to get himself a new shaver and hair brush ..
I was left on my own at home wondering , what about me, when will I die?
how will I die? .. Mind you, I'm far from 90 years old but I often wondered about my own life expiration .. But I am just hoping it won't be a long painful process .. Meantime, just keep on enjoying what's left of life ..

@epiffanie Let's just keep ourselves healthy. I really hope too to reach 30 or more years still.

We have our ups and downs ...you don't need me to tell you that...the trick is to keep going.
Wishing you thoughts that are cheerful and bright always...you make such lovely dresses.

1.5 hours is definitely a long drive so your every 2 weeks arrangement is great. it's a change of scenery for him, shopping for needs and treats, bonding with family, and a healthy diet boost.

Your father-in-law is quite some distance away. It makes it hard, doesn't it? We've thousands of miles on the car going 2+ hours to see my Mum. We went every three weeks - not that we minded the expense but it is just another factor.

Same here, I also think of that sometimes; but as always, I brush it aside and just look at the brighter side and telling myself we are more fortunate than other people do, so enjoy life!

@epiffanie I agree. I got really depressed when I turned 60 and thought about how many years I may have left. Of course, none of us knows how long we will be on this earth but it really got me down for quite a while. I was slowly able to pull myself out of it and I try not to think about it a lot now.

Hello Reine .. nice to see you again ,,
You know, whether we are with someone of not, when we get older, we often find ourself all alone in our own thoughts .. even if we are surrounded by people .. just the reality of life that we have to deal with ..
