How Do You Usually Hold Your Hands When In Public?

In watching videos and interviews on tv I often have wondered what the way a person holds their hands says about them. In reading some things about body language I have found this out: When a person is stressed they will usually rub their hands together which is pacifying oneself or "self massaging". If really badly stressed a person is more apt to rub the hands together with the fingers stretched out and interlaced. "Teepee Hands" is one that is used usually when one is feeling really bad. On the other hand when communication is important and getting ones point across one will steeple their fingers. A hand shake is very important and says a lot about ones emotions. Firm with direct eye contact is best. Using two hands can make the other person feel uncomfortable. Use your entire hand to point and be sure that hands are well manicured for interviews and professional interaction. In a Psychology Today article Joe Navarro says: "The hands really are exquisite transmitters of our emotions and thoughts, even our well being; we can’t afford to ignore them."

I am very expressive with my hands. They just seem to move as I talk.

I think that is good. I tend to pay more attention to people who do this. More interesting I guess.
