Off To Find A Neck Heating Pad

I posted yesterday about my months long sore neck, that I attribute to my pillow. I have researched and bought so many pillows I could probably open my own pillow store. @BelleStarr told me about a heating pad for the neck that you warm up in a microwave and put around your neck. That sounds like heaven. So I am going to get myself moving, get my shower and go take a look at what I can get to help my neck. I have seen some that have ceramic beads inside and that sounds interesting. I hope I have some luck with this as this just seems to be the next step in trying to relieve my pain without the use of pain pills. Wish me luck I have decided not to come home until I find what I want. Thanks Belle, love your suggestion. I have a heating pad but it's not for the neck area so off I go.

My niece has an electric heating pad for the neck. You can check Amazon, they have plenty. Now, you should know that heat is for muscles, chronic pain, and stress and Ice is for injuries, to calm down damaged superficial tissues that are inflamed. You should know first why you feel pain in your neck, not to worsen the problem.

@fishtiger58 If it is an inflammation of a tendon, the heat is not a good thing. This can happen for bad posture. I think it's always better to see a doctor before to try auto medication. I was heating a knee because I thought it was a muscle and I had a tendinitis. What I had to do was to put ice and I was doing the opposite.

I'm pretty sure it's muscles in my neck, and back. I didn't injure my neck.

sorry that your neck hurts, hope you're able to find some relief. My 1 year old bed kills my back, but I don't say much as it was really expensive and it's not that old and I don't want to have to replace it already.. but I feel like if I say something we'll have to replace it.

I stopped sleeping on a coil mattress a few years ago and it's the best decision I ever made. I now have a memory foam. I used to wake up with a sore back on the coil mattress about 4 times a week. I have had the memory foam for almost 3 years now and once, and only once have I waken with a sore back. So worth it. Is your's a coil mattress?

I have a pretty permanent neck injury that can be agony. I do resort to pain killers, but rubbing the place where the pain is with Olbas oil ( eucalyptus) and a kind of pillow with cherry stones in you heat in a microwave are helpful. Usually these are filled with wheat. A hot water bottle is also great. It seems applying heat is the best thing.

If you don't find one, you can also make one using an old sock and rice. A little sewing too.

@fishtiger58 If it's dry, I would imagine indefinitely. You're not getting it wet. They also say dry beans are good. I haven't done it yet.

Yea I have been hearing that. I had already ordered one when I heard I could do this. But how long can you keep microwaving rice. So I will stick with the one I ordered.

I do hope you find lasting relief for your neck pain. Apart from age, my back and neck pains are concerns of mine that have been troublesome, as well. Have you tried fish oil? How about physio? Neck massages? Heat rub? Avoid stress? Try lying down and rolling on golf balls pressing down on your shoulder shoulder blade muscles. Often, tightened muscles put a strain on the back connecting to the neck. Good luck!

I have tried heat and that does feel so very good. I have some magnesium oil coming in the mail. I have researched that and it's all good. So I am whittling down my choices before seeing a doctor. But I'm pretty sure this is a muscular issue and other than a massage I don't think the docs can help. So I do what I can and yes I'm getting old so that's always a reason. Not to much stress in my life hubby and I are retired and life is good.

in a magazine i've seen a small sock filled with rice grains, then put inside another sock (so it doesn't spill) before tossing in the microwave.

@fishtiger58 It is the strangest thing, I went out to lunch with one of my friends yesterday, and she gave me an early Christmas Present, a neck warming pad she had made at home with rice and lavender, it smells so good and goes in the microwave and everything. I am going to have to try it lol

U can make a heat pad for your neck like a hot towel or something. Maybe get your neck rubbed. And look into a simple neck exercise might help too.

What feels really good is putting my chin on my chest, that particular stretch feels real good but not horrible practical for computer or tv watching.
