Cyber school day 16...TGIF!

I assumed today being Friday my son would have less work to do for cyber school. I was very wrong. It was 64 degrees out today and we spent all of the daylight hours inside working on school work :-(
Homeroom started at 8:15. The kids wrote a journal entry titled "Someone I like to visit is...because..."
Immediately following homeroom was History. This was a really long lesson but fun. The students learned about the First Thanksgiving. I learned about a village called Plimoth Plantation and how a mishoon (Indian word for boat) is made. I was quite fascinated by the history class today.
There was a ten minute gap between History and Math. Then a 5 minute gap between Math and ELA. In ELA they talked about author's purposes in writing a story. That class ended at noon.
My son and I had lunch then headed back to work.
We had to do assignments in Math, History, Cursive handwriting, Spelling, Vocab, and Writing Skills.
The amount of work was awful and it was dark and time for dinner by the time we finished it all. I am so glad school is over for the week!

That sounds like a very full day - for both of you!

It was! I have to sit right with him the whole time to make he listens well and is interacting with the online classes. Most of the assigned work is online as well so we are sitting at the computer hours and hours. Yesterday I had to take time while watching and listening to do some squats etc.

@JudyEv They might be doing "home" schooling where mine is doing "cyber" schooling. They told us when we signed up only 25% of our day would be spent online but that was very wrong as just the online lessons take up 50% of the day. I would say 75% of the school day is spent online.

Every day has been like this I was just hoping it would have been less on Friday so we could get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. We were going to stay home and relax all day today but it is going to snow tomorrow and we need a lot of groceries so we have to go out shopping today. Tomorrow will be our relax day instead.

Wow, pardon my ignorance, but what is a 'cyber school'? From you description of the activities I could swear that it was a full school day! But I get the impression this may be through the computer. If this is so, I applaud your determination and grit. And how old is your son?

My son is 9. Cyber school is online classes etc. The first half of the day are classes where he watches the teacher and interacts with the other students reading aloud etc. We have books we do homework with but most everything is online so it is a lot of sitting each day. I wish my son had more free time during the day. I was a bit shocked at how much work he has to do. At least I know he is getting a good education with this.

Nothing fun planned this weekend :-( I was going to take my kids to a pokemon event at toys r us tomorrow but it is supposed to snow heavily so I will not be going out. Today we had planned to stay home and relax and I was going to check off many things on my to do list but since it will snow tomorrow we are going out to get groceries today instead.

It sounds like it's going well and you are learning along with your son.
