Cleaned Windows on a Different Type of House This Week

This image is one side of windows on an igloo house that was built in my town. The homeowner invited us to take pictures both of the inside and the out, but I won't be sharing them on the image site I joined recently. When I bid the job I thought it would take a few hours, but I also expected to have another employee with us that works faster than those that worked. It ended up taking us shy of seven hours. The homeowner bought us pizza, gave us drinks and had some fruit and pumpkin pie available too. There were three walls of windows with the one in this image being the widest of the three. The other two had two doors each on each side. One door went into the laundry room and the other on that same side into the living room. On the opposite end one door went into the dining room and the other into the kitchen. Both the kitchen/dr and the lr/laundry had walls defining them even though from the outside the sections of glass were one unit much like the one in this image. I don't think the windows had been done thoroughly for a long, long time. I'll be going back sometime this week to do some touch-ups on the higher sections of glass. My employee that worked on the ladder thought drips seen were in the glass, but I think possibly they will come out if knifed properly. I won't know until I do that myself. I should have more time this week to hang out here more again. I've been keeping up with my notifications but that's about it.

I've not been writing much lately, Patsie because I knew I wouldn't be here much to interact. That window job didn't look huge until we got into it. One of my guys is a lot slower than the other and that's partly why it took us so long.

I hate window cleaning. Maybe if I get a wild hair you know where I'll get the ladder out and do the front windows.

I've not been to CT since the early eighties and I didn't do windows the way that I do them now at that time in my life. I wish we all lived closer so we could all visit.

Some of our customers have windows almost all the way around the house. This one only has a lot on the three sides. The house is in the shape of an igloo and there are two upper levels that don't have any windows. The higher windows in the shape of a half moon provides the light for the main level and also for the other two levels.

@MarshaMusselman - It sounds like a really cool house. I would love to see photos of the interior, but I realize that would be an invasion of your customer's privacy.

@MarshaMusselman - I understand completely. I had a teacher when I was in college who had a round house with windows all the way around the circle. It was many years ago, but I still remember how cool her house was!

Oddly enough it didn't look like that many windows from the outside or at least not until we began cleaning them. If they were all bigger panes of glass it would have gone quicker too. Part of the time was taken up with a tour of the house and sitting down for lunch. She also invited us to take pictures. My one employee said that meant she knew we'd be sharing them, but I'd want to be sure before I shared them here and on photo sharing sites.

It would have been better had we gotten it done within the time I expected as I had three jobs that day, but the one male employee is slower than the one that didn't make it. The people were great to work with and they want it done several times per year from now on which will make it easier to clean eventually.

These jobs can be fun or frustrating. It seems you were working for a good homeowner.

No, it took us seven hours because my one employee mosey's around more than he should. Five or so years ago I could have done it myself in the same amount of time or less than that even, but with my leg not bending correctly and being older I'm slower than I used to be. It was the first time they were done this well, I'm sure and maybe the next cleaning won't take quite so long.
