POINT OF NO RETURN?

When one dies the spirit leaves the body. What is the point then in spending thousands of dollars to freeze one's body after death (a process called cryonic suspension), with the hope of revival at a future date? When that body is unfrozen, say -- twenty, fifty or a hundred years later, will scientists be able to recall that person's spirit and replace it? I don't think so. What are your thoughts?

my thought is we should not mix up science with spirituality

The scientific minded as well as the spiritually minded will each have their own beliefs, and at some point, the two will clash.

It is not mutually exclusive.

@Kandae11 Yes they would surely clash....but let them not clash with each other now.....

I hadn't thought about the spirit side of things. I don't know what to think really. I can't see bodies being revived later but who knows? Perhaps they will.

Who knows what will happen in the next twenty or fifty years?

@Kandae11 I think it is very plausible.

That is a good point, and something that I never thought of. My guess is if someone were unfrozen, their personality and spirit would be largely intact, but who knows?

They certainly won't be the same person but with the advances in technology anything is possible.

Science has not yet proven conclusively that the Soul leaves the body...but Scriptures further say this is not true of all cases. It has mention a sort of limbo where in the Soul's advancement is dependent on the disposal of the human body. If the body exist (cryogenic suspension) then the Soul cannot move on. It is tied...and becomes earth-bound. Perhaps they are trying to experiment with this? You bring back life, you bring back the Soul? Ir reminds me of the creation of the Frankenstein monster...did he posses a Soul? From Shelley's writing I would say, he did.

I wonder if the spirit is frozen with the body, that would be a shame.
