Should Online Earning be Taxed?

There is a heated debate whether online earning should be taxed? In my own opinions the answer is no. This is because the government should tax only where it has lend a hand.If the government can provide the internet for free including free cybers, then it can have a right but as long as it has done nothing, there should be not taxation.

In most countries they are supposed to be declared as income so you will get taxed. Don't get what you mean by government lending a hand...if all income was only taxed because the government lent a hand we'd have no income from taxation

@kiff00027 My opinion - that you should follow the laws that are laid down in your country. If you need to pay tax then pay the tax - if you don't need to pay the tax, then don't. It's not a hard concept really!

You are liable for tax as per indicated by the taxation policy of your country. Most countries require you to pay tax on all income and earnings - online is not above the taxation rules of your country.

@kiff00027 If that is what the law of your country states, then you should pay it - even on peanuts - otherwise, you will be committing taxation fraud

I think online earnings would be okay if taxed once you reach a decent income that is equal or superior to the minimal wage. Then the expenses on internet connection should be tax-exempt or refunded like it happens with other jobs. It is a job like another, a doctor can rent a studio and pay for it but he's going to pay taxes. An online worker still gets public services after all.

@kiff00027 Yeah, that's why I said the government must first make sure the online earners get a serious income from their job. Unless you're a freelancer, you can say that your earnings are simple rewards, in some countries they wouldn't be taxed.
