Springhill in Londonderry. (Another Haunting)

I've been on the hunt for ghoulish hauntings, and have for some unknown reason, focused in on Ireland. The happenings that I am going to try to describe here, have happened in Springhill House in County Londonderry in Ireland.
The back story seems to be that it was built in 1680 by a "Good Will" Conyngham who was put to the task of providing his afianced with a home befitting her station or as her father would believe it to be.
In any case, it doesn't seem the first known haunting would occur until the 19th century. I will try to summarize the backstory to this portion as well, summarily as possible.
George Lennox - Conyngham was somehow affiliated with the army (though his station within is not disclosed) and was away with said army when he heard word that his family had been bitten by small pox. They had all recovered since the letter was sent, it seems, but was not told about it and thus worried. The worry ate at him so much that he decided to abandon his post.
He came across his commanding officer on the way home, but as the man was a good friend to him, he was allowed to go on his way. George thought that that was that, he would be well and fine but apparently shortly after his arrival home, he was court marshaled.
That was bad enough, but around the same time one of his daughters succumbed to death and it sent him into a depression. The depression lasted a span of two years, when, at his wits end, he decided to end his life. (I am not making this a short story am I?) Long story short, he shot himself in what is now referred to as the "blue room".
His wife attempted to stop him but was too late. A few people have seen her apparation appear and re-live that moment. There was also a tale of a nurse-maid seeing her appear before the children she was tasked with. Any sighting is said to be tranquil, and a sense of calm to envelop them.
There was one other that I almost forgot to mention. To summarize it (as this discussion is getting long already), A guest was staying in the blue room when, it appears, she saw before her the commotion and circumstance of what could have possibly been the aftermath of George's suicide.
I'm really enjoying reading about all of these hauntings, and I've found that any I've read about from other countries seem to have more of a backbone to them than those of read about here in the US.
Have you heard this one before?
Do you think it might just be a little too late to be reading this stuff? (in the year)

Springhill house is almost as far away as it is possible to drive from, whilst still remaining within the county of, my country seat. The Mussenden Temple is closer... The map above shows Derry north and west, Springhill House is near Derry's southern border with Tyrone.

Springhill House and surrounding gardens are part of the UK National Trust, reference material below. The times I have visited this estate, in Moneymore, about an hour away by car, an amble through the grounds has usually been most pleasant - no tales of spooky goings-on...

So it's not featured in anyway during a tour of the grounds and home? Makes me wonder if it is true or not. Perhaps the tour groups just don't wish to speak of such things. A lot of the little tales I've reiterated here on mylot, I've found on sites like HauntedBritain.
I will have to look at the website you've provided here lately as I've just looked at the clock and need to start getting ready for work! whoops!

@pgntwo It's fortunate you are able to wander of your own accord around the grounds. I would have imagined the tour was sort of a must do or don't come on the grounds at all type of circumstance.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have never been on the guided tour of the house itself, content to just roam the grounds and open buildings and enjoy the sights, sounds and solitude. I am sure many tales abound...

I do love a good haunting tale myself. They are pretty much 'read at your own risk' though aren't they?

@ScribbledAdNauseum ........It's about a group that goes out and helps people with hauntings. The gal is clairvoyant and she goes out and sees what she feels. A guy goes out before her and takes down all pictures and such so she is totally going blind. THen a man also goes that does research on the area and the situation. So, there's a lot of back research done. It is pretty good.

Yes it can very much be a "read at your own risk" type of thing. I prefer the more informative ones, with less emphasis on the haunting and more on the backstory of what is being haunted.

Not a story I am familiar with because I tend to avoid reading such things. I cannot watch spooky films either however that being said I enjoyed your summary!

I think I get more of a chill over the written word than I do a movie. Of course it has been awhile since I've watched anything really scary as well. Glad you enjoyed my rendition of it, I tried to keep it as less thrilling as possible, and keep to the facts.

I have not read any such things. The apparitions, as per psychologists are only illusions. But, my personal experiences are that I have experienced such sightings. People will be afraid if I reveal theml

I believe in spirits as I have experienced them for myself. I know that there can be some that are more malevolent than others, of course, but I tend to believe that the majority of spirits are just lost.
You say people will be afraid if you reveal them? So the experiences you've had, weren't very nice ones?
