I read an article online about smudging and I got interested in it due to its good effect on one's mood. It is the practice of burning some dried herbs like sage, which are formed into a bundle with strings, then lighted on one end till the smoke appears.
According to those who were doing it, it purifies the air and the room of negative elements, then it was corroborated by a scientific study that negative ions were released into the air during smudging, which is good for one's health or one's mood.
Maybe it is true because the nice smell of burning herbs can lift one's spirit. Do you also like smudging or just burning scented oils to lift up your mood?

I love to experiment on such things; now I know why my late mother said she felt so good when she smells burning herbs or even of coconut leaves.

@acelawrites I like the smell of burning gum leaves when we are raking up our yard but I've never been into burning incense.

No, I just tried it first at the laundry area, and I have a good container that will prevent sparks or ashes from spreading. Just be careful when doing it. Maybe this is the reason why traditional healers also use herb's smoke to heal specially women who just gave birth.

Yes, rosemary and thyme smells so good. But be careful when burning them; just use a nice container to catch the ashes.

i used to do this myself. sadly the grasshoppers're most fond 'f the sage 'n 've made certain o'er the past couple'f years that i've none :( scents 've been proven to enhance folks moods 'n many other wonders. perhaps we should'a paid more mind to our ancestors 'n their uses 'f such?

Am just curious about it so I tried it once. Now I am drying my lagundi, pandan, and oregano leaves and try to find out if they smell so good too.
