One Hundred strokes a Night

I remember writing about my hair brushing habits in the Bubblews era, and this evening after my shower, grooming the feet, creaming the arms and elbows, I take to the brush and stoke my hair 100 times . . every night. My grandmother said that brushing your hair as often as one can, and especially at night, made it healthy and shiny. Going grey can have its moments of depression especially when the grey appears sooner than you would like, but I have found a way to keep it a lighter brown for a few more years before letting the silver earn its place on my crown. Do you have any brushing rituals ? just a thought shared . . .

@inlemay I haven't put a comb or brush near my head in nigh on 15 years. I just have a shower then shake my head and that does it.

I remember being told this too and I used to brush my hair regularly. I don't think I own a hairbrush now.

@JudyEv Thank you - I was worried for a while that you might have gone bald already - My one aunt went bald but wore it like that, didnt buy a wig or nothing

@Inlemay It's been shortish and/or permed for years so there was never really a need to brush it. I could brush it now it's longer and straight. I don't think it is thinning out - it doesn't appear to be to me - but it is very easy to comb and doesn't seem very thick. If it is thinning I'd worry that brushing would pull out more of it.

Thank heavens that I am not a woman because that would drive me even more insane than I am.

did you know that I find it very therapeutic as well - when my children were small and had a fever or were just feeling ill, i would softly brush their hair and they would calm down and sleep so the meds could work. There is much more to the brushing of hair than just strokes
