Love the vocal, not the music?

Do you ever hear a song and one thing makes it unenjoyable for you? Sometimes all it takes is one element to be off and I can no longer enjoy a song fully. Usually it's an annoying vocal that I don't like - but in these two cases it's the style of music I don't like. The first one I'd like to write about is Michael Bolton. What an amazingly powerhouse voice this man has been blessed with. Before he became famous for his sappy love songs, he sang in a hard rock band which was excellent. I cannot say enough compliments about his stellar voice, I just typically don't like the style of music he has suited himself to. The other one I would like to talk about is Diana Krall, - what an immense, enveloping voice she has. It is a shame that I do not feel the slow, melancholy jazz stylings that she leans towards. Do you have any musical artists like this? You like their voice but not the musical genere? Or the other way, you like the music but not the voice talent? Photo: Mine

Most of the time it's more a matter of music that is not in line with the voice. No example comes to my mind right now, but I am sure that I have heard beautiful voices with a wrong music.

I think I know what you mean, like sometimes how local bands or karaoke singers will have a nice voice, but will choose a style of music that doesn't suit them

Can't remember one. I think I either like or dislike music. No in-between.

Usually it's a matter of music over voice. Case in point: Finish goth band Two Witches. The music is great, but that dude can't sing.

Ah yes, I've had that happen too. Or I find in trying to find music to choreograph dance to. There's usually one thing off...
