Is it early, or is it late?

My neighbour has just arrived home from work - its 04h00 and his night shift at the chicken farm is over. I am up, so am I early or am I late? The birds have given their first morning call and apart from my humming computer, its the only sound that stirs. A glimmer of the sun rolling in from the east is lighting up the shadows of the trees and the air has turned a crispy cool, almost cool enough to cover up. It is in anticipation of what the day holds that I am up so early - much will be a going-on today, and while I am still at peace inward and outward, I put my thoughts in order so that all will go well. “... We need the sweet pain of anticipation to tell us we are really alive.” ~ Albert Camus Whether it be early or late where you are, have a splendid day.

4am is pretty early but we sometimes get up around then or a bit later if we can't sleep. Rather than lay there tossing and turning we get up and get on with whatever.

thats how I felt today - I had to draft a letter for my daughter - She got a permanent Teaching position and she needs to send her resignation to the current school she is at - a little emotional

@JudyEv I find that as well - If I can just get it off my mind, then its so-to-say laid to rest till the morning. My mind is always overactive anyway

@Inlemay When I was working and had a lot going on in my life, I'd sometimes get up at 2 or 3 in the morning and do an hour's work then go back to bed. I could always sleep better once I stopped thinking 'must do this, mustn't forget that, blah blah'.

@inlemay No better way to start the day than with a bit of Camus.

@Inlemay In Manchester we get less than 8 hours of daylight each day at present, which will get shorter over the next few weeks.

Good question when you have worked a night shift, I worked night for 23 years getting home around 6am and the day was just starting for most people.

Actually , if one have already enough sleep , waking up early is the best . Once we have said our morning prayer , we can myLot , we can open FB or surf the net , because by that early hours the internet is fast since the users are still at sleep.

Presumably your neighbour at least gets to enjoy some of the afternoon after sleeping off his shift. I know from my own experience that it can be very difficult to unwind and sleep immediately after working all night.

the mornings in our neighbourhood are very quiet, so I believe he naps in the morning when his children are at school. He is busy in the garden and other in the afternoons

I get up everyday at 7am. Somedays I go back to sleep and some days I don't. Its good to be up and getting thing done. The early bird get the worm. Just a old saying.
