Great Music Videos – Good Charlotte – Girls And Boys

2002 Having looked at a quite serious Good Charlotte song, Hold On, I thought I would show how cool the band is in their lighter moments. This song features on the same album as Hold On, The Young And The Hopeless and looks into the battle of the sexes in relationships, with lines about boys laughing at girls jokes even when the jokes fail to be amusing, just to get intimate with the girls. What makes the video special is the punks in the background behaving like emo-teenagers are all pensioners. We see them skateboarding, partying, commiting acts of petty mischief such as throwing milk-cartons at passing cars, discoing and even getting intimate with band members, especially in the last instant where Benji Madden wakes up with an old lady offering him breakfast and realizes it wasn’t all just a dream. The older generation are clearly enjoying themselves immensely in the video which gives it a great deal of charm. There are also cheeky digs here at Robert Palmer and Avril Lavigne - a fabulous video for a very sharply written song. The song and full video on Daily Motion - Arthur Chappell
