During the early 1960s there were many popular girl groups on the scene. On November 28, 1964 The Shangri-Las had a number one hit with their song “Leader of the Pack”.
This was a song that spoke to the heart of every teenage girl who ever fell in love with a guy who their parents didn’t approve of. Particularly if that guy, like in the song was a motorcycle rider and wore a leather jacket.
The Shangri-Las were actually four nice girls who were high school classmates from the borough of Queens in New York City. They were two sets of sisters. The group went on to have other well-liked songs but are best known for this one. In 1972 Better Midler recorded a cover version of “Leader Of The Pack” and included it in her debut album The Divine Miss M.

It is funny that I come here and you have this posted. I was just on FB and one of my friends friend on there had a some pictures posted of her daughter. She playing the role Callie Cohen from Tennessee in the play, The Leader Of The Pack. It starts this evening for them.

Sometimes the heavens are full of all kinds of similar inspirations and things happening @Happy2BeMe I know sometimes when I post my poetry I read others and at least one of them has had an inspiration or wrote something similar to mine. I sure hope your friend's daughter has great success in the play.
