What Is The Best Thing You Like About Where You Live?

When you think about it, you probably could live anywhere you wanted to live, but it seems that most persons just happen to “end up” in a certain place and stay there.
I have lived in several different places but I “ended up” here in Virginia. I wasn’t born here. I didn’t come here for a job. I didn’t ever really expect to “end up” here. So, WHY am I living here?
It’s always an interesting question for most people to answer. Thinking about the answer leads me to evaluate my reasons for choosing to live here.
What I like best about where I live, is that most of my children live here also. That’s basically WHY I “ended up” here. Only ONE of my children was born here in Virginia.
I also LIKE living here for several other reasons. The climate is NOT extreme. There are lots of things to enjoy.
What about you? Why did you “end up” where you are right now?
What do you like best about where you live? And how did you “end up” where you are now?

It wasn't my choice @IreneVincent . But now that I've been here 18 years, I enjoy the peace and quiet of the 16 1/2 acres; the trees and all critters (except the wild hogs).

Wild hogs? Oh my! I wouldn't like those either. Do you see them often?

@nanette64 OH my! I never ever thought of wild hogs being in Texas. I found Fairfield on my big wall map. It's what? about 100-150 miles south of Dallas, right? So eastern Texas. Are there mountains there?

@IreneVincent They generally come around once a year and literally tear everything up. You should see the size of the pit holes they leave behind in the ground.

@JudyEv Unfortunately, there are many things in the U.S. that is threatening the underground aquifers, including "Fracking" and burial of radioactive waste and draining the aquifers because of drought in certain areas.
I hate to think of the damage that is being done, that cannot be reversed.

Well, that's good to know. Water is certainly important. Water is an issue for many people in this world.

I'd have to say the fact that we can do outdoor activities all year 'round. My young friend and I went cycling yesterday, while all of my relatives in the North and Northeast were freezing their butts off. But what I miss is what is shown in your picture: the changes of the seasons.

Yes the changes are nice but I would be happy with Fall all year round Between 75 and 85 would be perfect. We are freezing here in Virginia. I haven't been out of the house since Thursday and don't plan to go out until Wednesday. It's supposed to get up to 48 by then. I need to get some groceries but I'm dong without several food stuffs I usually have on hand. I absolutely HATE these cold temperatures

My hubby & I bought a house here. Not to far away from my parents' house. It is not so quiet here as neighbors' pets are noisy but the place is less crowded.

We don't have a close neighbor, but the ones we do have don't have any animals that I'm aware of. I never hear dogs barking. One day I did, but it was a stray dog on the loose.

So city life is peaceful and quiet? I've never seen it to be so around here. I live in the country NEAR a big city.

I moved to Israel as an adult in November 1986. I did not live in other places besides Minneapolis. I traveled a lot because I wanted to get out of Minneapolis and discovered I love traveling. After awhile I realized I could not live in Minneapolis anymore. I had a friend in Arizona so went back and forth there to see if wanted to live there. It turned out it was not the right place for me. So, I guess you could say G-d thought it was time for me to go Home and Home is Israel. So, I visited the year before I came to live here and wanted to get an idea about what it is like here. I then came back to Minneapolis and worked with someone and came Home. I live in Israel because I am Jewish and it is the only Jewish country we have in the world. I did not like growing up having to take our Jewish holidays as vacation days and not feel free being Jewish anywhere else but here. So, after almost 31 years I am still here and here to stay. I could not live anywhere else.
