I cannot remember all things. So keeping a digital diary is more than important for me. I personally use rainlendar. It gives popup when I have something to do.
You can keep tasks as monthly or daily and also use it to give time to jobs according to schedule.
For normal use I write down in diary. It is handy. How do you keep track of your daily jobs or online events. I am keen to know.

For my work, my work email system has scope for setting up alerts for particular days. For personal things, I use calendar in my smartphone.
