Attending A Thrift Shop Party This Evening

This evening a friend and I are going to a party at the Op Shop (thrift shop). For a small price we get wine and nibbles and I'm not sure what else. Anyway it is a good excuse for me to post my Op Shop poem which will be trotted out again on Friday at our Writing Group wind-up. And speaking of wind-ups, I thought I'd use a nice sunset photo. One day I cleaned out my wardrobe It hadn't been done for a while There were skirts and jeans, tops and shoes Most of it out of style I found myself a garbage bag And the light was rather dim Didn't take a lot of notice Just threw a whole lot in I dropped them of at the Salvos And went off down the street The following week I was back there This time with a heap of sheets While I was there I had a look round They really had some good stuff I tried on a shirt, it fitted me well Smart casual – good enough! I found some shoes that fitted Luckily just my size I had plenty of room in my wardrobe And cheap! I felt very wise I took my things to the counter I'd got quite carried away The lady looked at me strangely I smiled and wished her 'good day' When I got home I unloaded the car And dumped the clothes on the table I picked up a shirt and held it up And then I looked at the label My initials were there, plain as you like Stark and printed in black I felt such a fool, I wasn't so cool I'd bought my own stuff back!

@amadeo I bought a blouse, a book for Vince, some Christmas cards and some slacks. There were huge discounts on everything.

There is a new manager at the thrift shop with new ideas. Quite possibly things there will be a bit cheaper this evening.

@JudyEv I'm sure it is. I just donated a lot to the thrift store here when I moved. I've only been in there once since, but didn't look for anything that would be in with what I donated.

@just4him I saw a few items that I had donated at the party but I wasn't tempted to buy any back.

Ahhh, that is what we do at times. We spy something that catches our eye, and then we later realize that it has caught our eye before.

This same friend and I went op shop hopping once and I found a blouse exactly the same as the one I had on. I held it up next to me and said 'do you think this suits me?' and she said 'no'. It was really funny at the time! :)

My cousin just went to something like that about 2 months ago. It was an 80s theme fashion show.

Oh! I expected what will happen as you went back for that heap of sheets, but still read on, and I had a real laugh! Ha! Ha! Ha! Thank you for your poem, Ms. Judy! It surely gave me a great start this morning!

They're great aren't they? Probably the majority of my clothes are from thrift stores.
