Things all happen for a reason, they say, but what is the reason for that?

Johns dog looking pretty on his couch. It later died, gassed to death, unfortunately

"Everything happens from a reason, for a reason" The "from" part seems obvious enough, but what about the deeper "for" part? Is there a higher reason for things happening to us, such as God, or the Universe, or even our own soul being responsible for them happening in some way to teach us some type of life lesson, for example? Here is an example story about this "from" and the "for". John and his wife went away one weekend to a small country town, away from the big city that he lived in. As they had a small dog, his old mother and father agreed to spend the night in his house to mind the dog. When John and his wife arrived home that Sunday night around 6 pm at night, his parents had long gone. They had left in the morning after feeding the dog, and after letting it outside to have a run around and to do its business, they got it to come back inside the house again, before they left. They had left fresh water and food for it there in the house too. Upon opening the back door, John and his wife immediately smelt the strong smell of gas in the house. They went inside, and they saw that the gas switch had been left on, on the gas stove. The switch had two positions with a mark on them for fully on and for fully off. One position was pointed upwards at 12 o'clock, the other pointing downwards at 6 o'clock. John's mother had thought that she had turned the gas off, but she had actually turned it "off" the wrong way instead, and so it was now on fully, rather than off fully. Admittedly, her eyes were not the best, and also she never did like to wear her glasses much either, thinking that she didn't need them for such small tasks, like boiling the kettle for a cup of tea, or coffee. John had been rather surprised in hindsight too that his little dog had not greeted him at the backdoor as soon as he had opened it, like she usually did, but maybe she was sleeping on her favourite chair in the little lounge just near the kitchen, he had thought to himself. It was only a small two bedroom house. The toilet door, the bathroom door, the bedroom doors and the laundry doors had all been closed off. This left only the small kitchen and small lounge/dining room left. John after turning the gas off of course went to look for his dog. He went into the lounge, and he saw the dog lying motionless on its favourite chair. He immediately panicked, I hope it is still alive he thought to himself. He went over and touched it. It was cold to the touch, and it still did not move. He could see now that it was dead, gassed to death, it seemed. John was very distraught about this of course, and so was his wife, she burst into tears, as soon as she had noticed what John had just noticed. She had, of course, followed him into the small room. The little dog was twelve years old, already getting old for a dog, but it had been expected to live for at least another four or five years, as it had been relatively healthy. There was nothing wrong with it, as far as John had known. The gas had killed it then. Now the question is this, did this happen "for" a higher reason to John and his wife, or not? Obviously, it happened "from" a reason, which was that the gas had been left on, but what reason formed the reason "for" it happening? The cause and effect authoritative enough sounding, even scientifically based idea, occurs in the physical spectra of life, and so here everything has a cause, such as the gas being turned on here, but in the higher planes, following the dictate of, "what happens below also happens above", and vice versa too,(what happens above, happens below as well) because truth is universal in its application, the law in the spiritual realms is also that whatever happens in the lower realms has a cause for it happening there. There is a reason behind its happening, existing for its happening, existing within the higher realms. That is, everything that happens below is linked to the reason for it happening, as it has been established or set up above for it to happen, or to take place. It has been "planned" to happen then for some higher spiritual reason, to bring about some result down below in the lives of those it has happened too. This reason is either that of your soul trying to teach you God's lessons, or sometimes it's some higher being, or even God himself that can become involved, as Jesus did with Saint Paul, and so Jesus was the higher reason behind the light appearing to Saint Paul and blinding him for three days, and changing him from a sinner to a saint, so to speak. This conversion story is written up in the Christian bible in the New Testament book of Acts, chapter 9, starting at the beginning of this chapter. “As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul.” Hermes Trismegistus, as quoted from his work, entitled the Emerald Tablet. Why do you think that things all happen for a reason? What is the reason behind that reason? Is there some cause and effect law operating in the higher spiritual realms too? There are many unaswered, perhaps unanswerable questions here. Here are a few more such questions for you to ponder over. The reason that John's dog died was "from", or because of the gas, but what was the spiritual reason "for", or behind this happening? Did the spiritual reason apply both to John and to his wife, or to only one of them, (or maybe even to the dog)? If it was to only one, was the other person just cannon fodder then in this event, and the dog a sacrificial victim? Was it because of Karma then that this happened, or was the situation trying to show John something about himself that he had to learn about himself, and so the whole event was a learning lesson for him? What type of a cruel teacher could, or would teach somebody something in this way though, anyway? Does everything really happen for a reason then, and who is the one setting up the reason anyway? Who is behind it all, the instigator, who is the cause of it happening?

Yes, that's a picture of my Dog. It was a female dog. That story was an example story only. I changed it a bit, what really happened, to emphasise more the points that I was trying to make here. This really happened to my dog, though, but luckily our house was a lot larger than the house was in my story. My dog actually survived, for a while after that, but soon after this, it developed a heart problem, and a breathing problem too, which did kill it, unfortunately. I don't really know if the gassing caused the heart problem or not.

All things "good and bad" make us think and ponder to be a better human being. We should learn the right lessons for better appreciation of who we really are and accept those we cannot change and then move on. I feel nature is part of God and that means we are part of the whole with a pulse and connection to the entirety. We should listen to the inner voice than succumb to outside noise all the time - siva

@Shiva49 Yes, individually we are mites biting God's ear, but collectively we can be fleas in his hair. I wonder which one he prefers us to be...LOL...

@Shiva49 Nature gives everything for free outwardly, but inwardly we will often need to pay the price for our triflng/tampering with it.

@innertalks I feel He wants us to take charge - do or die - after all that has been revealed to us and also with what we are blessed with - the inner voice to coexist and survive like other species do. We seem to tempt fate showing utter disregard for collective survival. Nature gives everything for free for our survival but we trifle/tamper with it too - siva
