Good afternoon.I read an article of a woman whose there year old child was screaming, yelling as she could not handle this.
Then this came to my attention. What is the right age of children coming to a service on Sunday.when I took my kids to church they had day care for them.
Although my kids never acted up in a way of manners that this one.
Most churches has day care for these children.
But if my kid was screaming and making a fuzz.I get up and walk out.
This is not rude.Make more sense.
I guess the mother could not handled it.
But she did the right thing and walked out.

My children know how to sit and behave during church service, they used to do it all the time in my mother's church. The church we go to the kids all go to their own class during service.
If my child was being loud in any way I would get up with them and walk out! Staying in service is more rude than stepping out.

@LadyDuck we had friends who when their first child was born, flew to Holland to introduce the baby (6 months old) to his grandparents. He screamed from the moment the plane was airborne until landing in Amsterdam. That was an 8 hour flight.
My friend lived in dread of the trip home....yes, he did the same thing again. She never flew again with her children......
Fast forward twenty five years. This young man gets married and chooses an island destination for their honeymoon.....the entire flight he sits holding his head in his hands...wanting to scream with the pain in his ears...poor baby....no wonder he screamed.

I, too, would take him outside. I don't think children should be expected to sit through church services until they are school age. In the church I used to go to they had a very short pre-service and a two minute story time up front with the pastor. Then the kids would all go to Sunday School or nursery. Those 8 and over could stay if they wished. I think people expect too much of children these days, they do not remember how it is to be a child.

When my children were babies, our church expected you to keep your children with you. There was a room where you could take your children to feed them, change them or calm them. Some of my children were quite cooperative and slept, or played quietly on the floor. My son (our fourth child) had me walking the halls for two entire years. The church service was 2 hours.....a nursery for small children would have been a God send.

@amadeo no nursery at church. For the most part my children learned to play/sleep on the floor. We had a bag for each child complete with a padded blanket, books and quiet toys, as well as a cover if they wanted to sleep. The only one of the five children who kept me walking the halls (it seemed like forever) was my son.

If you have children, and you aren't sure how they are going to behave, you should sit in the back, so you can make a discreet exit if you need to. They have to get used to behaving in certain settings, and the only way to do that is to have them in those settings. So, I don't think that the mother was being intentionally rude. She just wants her child to experience church, and she did the right thing by leaving when the child got fussy.

Walking out is the only thing to do. Even my youngest granddaughter has problems with me at that age because she did not know me since the begining of her life (I did not accept children while on chemo). SofĂa learned little by little to be comfortable here, but Claudia brought her first for small moments and I tried to seduce her with something special.

It's polite for the other members of the congregation to take the child out. There has always been child care available in all the church's I've attended over the years.

Small children sometimes get bored at church, Their senses are not open to church sermons. If it was the case, I would take my child to a place where he/she could relax while I listen to the church sermons
