Do you feel lucky?

Yesterday when I went to the post office to mail a package, the line was literally out the door. There was no way I could stand in line that long (back problems). So today around 3pm I crossed my fingers and went by again, determined to stay in line no matter how long it was. Thankfully, I only had four people in front of me. Once I got to one of the counters it took a little longer than I thought it would, although the lady was very efficient. I thought it went very well.
I have found one of the busiest times to go is the morning. It's like everyone goes to mail things on their way to work. Noon is also pretty busy because so many people are on a lunch break. The lady who was helping me today was actually on loan from a post office about 30 minutes away. She said she didn't mind because she appreciated the over time pay.
It's always more hectic at Christmas, in a lot of people's line of work. Do you try to pick certain times of day to go to certain places? I always try to avoid the grocery store on a Saturday.

My mom came to visit me today and we talked about our Saturdays agenda. We're planning to go to the grocery on the 24th and we're going 9am which is the opening time. For sure it'll be so busy by then, we have to be so early.
and yes, i do choose a time when i go to a place.. especially the crowded ones.

I do try to avoid shopping at times the store is busy. Purchased several books of stamps before the holidays, so I wouldn't have to get in line for stamps. The postal lines are long in this area and I go to a different post office when a box needs mailing.

I have the same problem and no longer go to the post office. There is a privately owned business near me that ships packages any way you want. I ask for the cheapest and they give me the rates of USPS, UPS, and FedX and let me choose. There is rarely anyone in line there. They have copy services, imaging services, they'll pack something for you (for a price, of course) and their prices are no higher than the post office. Next time, look for something like this. You'll find them under shipping services, postal services, or private mailbox services in a search engine or phone book.

Unfortunately working a normal 9-5 job means I have to do my errands the same time as the majority of others do theirs. I try to grocery shop on my way home Friday night so I don't have to do it over the weekend. Hubby gets a weekday off so he can do some of the other important errands.

We live in a little rural village and there is a tiny post office here. I think that the mornings are the busiest for Yvette-see its so small we know each other's names! But I've also been in the mid-to late afternoon, and its busy because people are stopping on their way home from work, and they stand in there with her and they chat.
As for the grocery store, I try to steer clear of there anytime after about 11 am on a Saturday, before that its usually quiet but after that you have to fend for yourself. When my husband comes with me that poor guy can hardly stand it, if we're at the end of an aisle and he is turning the cart to go down the next aisle and lets 1 person go by, then the next thing you know he has opened a flood gate and 10 people push thru. But we just get along, and we eventually get our groceries. He tells me that there is no grocery store etiquette in our small town that we shop in-I laugh at that!

I try to do my errands like that right after I take the kids to school . . . so about 8:30am - whatever is open anyway. As far as the post office goes, I know there is one in a Korean market (not many people know about it), so I go there right when it opens at 9am . . . no one is there . . . I did that today to send a package and there was only 1 other person there. I am completely avoiding any stores over the weekend this month!

I want to finish my shopping, but there's no way I'll go on a Saturday. I'll go on Monday, although it will still be crazy busy.

I think you picked a wise time to go to the post office today. I like to go to the grocery store during early afternoon to avoid crowds.
