I am still using Vista HP in my laptop, however now Vista is outdated windows software, and because of this now most updated browsers are not working. Due to this I am limited to IE and Maxthon, to prevent any further problem, I deleted update file from maxthon; and kept good old IE as well. So now, what I have to do? Upgrading Vista is not working an no Win-10 download page is opening in maxthon either; and my laptops' DVD section is also not working.

Your laptop has probably not enough memory to upgrade to Windows 10. Personally I would install a light version of Linux like Puppy Linux on a USB dongle/flash drive with a dual boot Vista/Linux. Your best choice is probably Tahrpup, as it can install any package from Ubuntu 14.04, and you will be able to run the last Firefox or Chromium browsers. Now you have a problem because your DVD does not work, and that the easiest way to do an install on an USB dongle is to do it from a live CD. It is possible to do it directly by extracting the files from the ISO image but it is a bit techy, and I think that your best option would be to do it from another computer equipped with a CD/DVD player. Linux will be able to read your Windows partition if you need a file, and if you need to run a Windows software you will boot on your old Vista HDD. If you decide that Linux fits your needs (you will be surprised how fast it is compared to Windows), you can install it later on your HDD and get rid of Vista.

Thanks for this good response Top, I think I should go for Linux now. My laptop have enough memory to upgrade to anything as I upload a picture of current free space. I have 16 GB PenDrive, will it work instead of DVD? Or there is any other option. Windows links are not opening, but what about Linux? Will they open or work in better cause?

@topffer This is good one, I know I will get better response from you because you are very experienced with Linux. I will ask here if somebody can do this and then I will go ahead with linux. However being new (yet to) to linux, I still have to go a bit, and giving a good bye to Vista. On antivirus, I think Vista was very unsafe, but now new viruses will not work as they won't upload on vista (just a thought, not sure) I don't know about Chromium but know many other browsers, you might be using it with your linux. I have Dell inspiron 1525 laptop, and one more mini laptop of HP (with XP). Dell's DVD not working, and mini Laptop don't have a DVD. SO I have to go with another option.

I can't help at all. I am still using XP but soon a friend will format and upgrade me to 7 and I hope I will be able to use that for a while rather than buy everything new agin. Good luck!

My friend also gave me a link to free upgrade to Windows 10, but link was not working as it no longer support Vista or lower windows. Yet that link works for Windows 7 to upgrade it to Win10 for free.

I am glad @topffer was able to respond to you and offer his advice, Yugocean. I have one laptop running Linux (I can't remember which one, at the moment, though.) and find it to be easy enough to use. I am usually using my new laptop, so still need to become more familiar with this system. I hope it works well for you!

Yes, but I have no choice, this time I am using Maxthon by deleting it's update so that It should not update to become latest (unable to recognize Vista)
