After three weeks a plumber finally came to sort out my leaky toilet cistern which he sealed more tightly quite quickly, leaving me with time to prepare for the afternoon’s creative writing workshop, the last I am likely to get to now before Xmas and the new year. We did two exercises both themed around Xmas itself. I’ll share one of the pieces I wrote here, while the other has been sent to an anthology of Xmas pieces one of our members is editing as an Amazon pamphlet booklet. She hopes to get it in circulation by Xmas. I went to a burlesque tonight - an Xmas Special, called The Night Before Grinchmas at The ferret pub here in Preston – A very funny show. It was lovely. A big thank you to host Rock Hart, compere Dianne Stage, my friends Conrad & Victoria (herself one of the performers) and hosting bar, The Ferret. The compere, Diane Stage was outrageous and even shockingly funny. She introduced herself by handing everyone Ferrero Rochet chocolates - well half were Ferrero - the other half were sprouts in Ferraro wrappers. I got a sprout. Great gag. The highlight after the great dances and magic acts was the raffle of gifts for the audience which I did really well from, getting three prizes despite buying only two tickets. Prize one - a dancer's thong - new, unused - they decided no one should sacrifice a ticket for that so I got it when they threw it to the audience. I’ll find someone happy to wear them. Prize 2 - a video of Diane's Jane Fonda workout spoof - Ladies Who Lunge which I got her to sign - no idea what is actually on it as no TV or video player. The great prize however was a Harry Potter villain Voldermort action figure in its bubble pack which I’m no opening. A chap who won a cheap children’s 100 piece Johnny Depp as Captain Jack jigsaw puzzle begged me to swap - as you can guess my answer was an emphatic NO! Or rather Nooooooo! I came home and headed straight to bed. Arthur Chappell
