Sick Boy

We now know why my grandson has been having trouble with his ear. I thought maybe he had gotten water in it or something. He said it just bugged him, didn't really seem to hurt. I also thought it was coupled with his sore throat which I had thought could be just sleeping with his mouth open due to congestion because of a minor cold. He decided he wouldn't go to school today, after missing Friday too, and would go to the doctor today to see what was going on with his ear. He hee'd and haw'd all day until about 1p. when he finally relented to get ready and go to the doctor. (Has to take the city bus so he didn't really want to go out). They get back and the doctor says he has strep throat and a ear infection. So, he will be out for at least one more day if not more. And, he starts winter break mid week(Dec.21st) next week and is out until January 4th. Oh joy! Being around him for too many days ALL DAY is not fun. He is angry and irritable a good portion of the time plus antagonist, oppositional, argumentative, and defiant. He is 13 but sometimes it is hard to differentiate between ODD symptoms and teenage stuff. I think his ASCENT teachers should get awards for their patience and consistency.

I hope he feels better soon. =( And I hope he won't be too hard to deal with while he's home.

I hope your grandson will get well soon. My ear was infected in the past when I was a child. My mom brought me to the hospital and I recovered from it after the treatment. I think the doctor will solve the problem sooner.

I have had them before too. Not fun. Antibiotics is what he is on. Seems to be doing okay now.

yes i often wonder how any teachers stand that job and must be even stronger to survive special needs kids.

I hope you and your family have a great vacation and Christmas. Teens are very hard to deal with.

He is pretty moody. I would love to go look at Christmas lights. Would be a nice outing. Hard to do in a taxi and expensive.
