There's so many ways to be happy and one of the ways include spending time with happy and positive people. If we're in an environment that's filled with misery then we'll become miserable. It's better to find positive activities to engage in. If we find ourselves feeling down and out then we should quickly find the effective ways to pep up. Meditation is a great way to feel better when things seem to be disconnected. Finding ways to generate peace will help keep despair out and just being surrounded by others who enjoy peace as well is a great way to remain whole. There's a lot of troubles in the world and if we're not careful the troubles can take a hold of us and we'll feel down in out. There's some people who actually enjoy seeing others in despaired "positions." Do not be dismayed due to worldly "events." What takes place in the world we may not always have control over but we certainly will need to gain control over the emotions. There's so issues which can produce feelings of despair. Spending some time reflecting helps. Not allowing the problematic events to take hold of us is very important.

You are absolutely right. We should not let negative environment or bad news on TV put us down. We do not have control over those but we do have control over our emotions.

Love your suggestion of meditation. It surely will help to bring you peace if practiced regularly. Many people don't realize that happiness is a choice. You don't especially need anything specific to be happy. Although I do know the trouble of being around miserable people, believe me! That kind of environment can be so draining, it is a good idea to try to find some place else.

You are quite right @Teep11 . It's the "glass half full/ half empty" conundrum. You change what you can and leave the rest behind.
