Suet time for the birds

After we got back from Anne's doc appointment, I was in the back yard refilling my bird feeders. It occurs to me that I may not be able to type the name of the little flock of birds eating suet in the photo. I will say they are Bush _its and let you fill in the blanks. That is their real name, by the way, and they fly in flocks of 12 to twenty and love suet. The feeder is made of recycled milk cartons and has a tail prop for woodpeckers and flickers. Numerous birds like suet made from rendered beef fat with seed and things added. It is just above freezing this afternoon. I just wanted to share the photo.

The synthetic, plastic-like material is all you see, but it stands up to weather better than wood.

It's a lovely photo. Your bird-feeder is obviously very popular. I'm sure you'll be able to get more lovely photos while the birds are busy feeding.

It's supposed to be like 15° and snow here on Saturday. Maybe it's your storm headed this way.

Ahhh shame - they are huddled to share the warmth - that is a beautiful photo of them.

Oh they are a very close-knit little flock, as all this breed is. I love to see them visit. They are attacking my suet hungrily and I have something called Bark Butter they love too.

that's a good idea for the bird feeder. i should have the kids make something out of milk cartons.

I am not sure how they do it, but the manufacturer turns it into a very hard, plastic-like substance.
