First ice storm of the season

I thought I would post a picture of the huge branch that came down close to the house. I am so thankful that it didn't hit the house. I would say that we had about an inch of ice that fell on the trees, and the whole street looks white, as it has been below freezing all day. It is very pretty, but it is dangerous to walk on or drive in as well. Believe me, I never got out today, and I won't until it warms up. I am also thankful that the tree in front of my rental didn't fall on it either. The ice really felled a lot of trees, and hopefully it is all over. I am glad I am home and safe and not out in it.

Ice storms do so much damage. I am glad that branch did not hit your house. That is scary though. Best to stay home where you are safe. Enjoy your evening.

I don't trust myself to drive in that kind of weather, so staying home is no problem at all. I would much rather stay safe and warm, than be sorry.

@Happy2BeMe Right now, the sun is shining, and it is very cold, but it is supposed to get above freezing today, so that is good. I am glad that the storm is over, as it could have been much worse than it was.

We had to go out this morning and the roads were surprisingly dry and not at all slick about 9 AM. I am glad the ice part is over and that we did not lose our power, as so many did in the south hills.

I thought it would stay icy on the roads, but it got better. I just can't get out until the limbs are removed off my driveway, as they are big, and would damage my under carriage if I tried to run over them. I think the neighbors will remove them for me though, as they are good that way. I will get out tomorrow, more than likely, as the storm is over now, at least for awhile. I live not to far from Beltline.Rd.

@JamesHxstatic I am glad that the sun is out, but cold. The ice is so pretty glisteing in the sunlight. Now, there is cleanup to be done, but I think my neighbors will take care of it for me, as they are good that way.

@rosekiss So do we and Delta Oaks. There were many branches down on Coburg Road and on residential streets.

It happened over night, as it never happened during the day, and when I woke up yesterday, I saw what it had done. I am just grateful that it didn't hit my house, as it came close. God is so good all the time.

That looks like a pretty good size branch, you were lucky. Snow is one thing, but icy is horrible.

You are so right. Right now, it is sunny, but cold, and the ice is just glistening in the sunlight. I am just so gratful that it didn't fall on my house, as that would have been disastrous.

@AbbyGreenhill I sure wouldn't want that at all, but thank goodness, it didn't hit the house and do any damage. My house isn't perfect as it does need some work done outside and some inside, but having an extra hole sure wouldn't set down to well.

@rosekiss Then you would have a huge hole with lots of cold air blowing in.

I'm very happy it didn't do any damage to the house. Good idea to stay in out of that.

You got that right, as I would rather be home safe than get out in it, and maybe get stranded or get into an accident. Since the school buses didn't come today, I figured it had to be bad out there. By afternoon, it was looking better, but still cold, and still lots of ice on the trees. I am also glad that it didn't fall on the house.

@just4him I am too. My daughter slid into a tree on Friday, as in Missouri there is lots of ice, and she was driving slow, so she didn't do any damage to her car, except for paint coming off. She was petrified, and her husbands brother picked her husband up as he has a van. She is scared of what it might do tomorrow, when she takes him to work, as she will have to get out late at night to pick him up. Bad weather has always scared me for sure.

@rosekiss Today the roads are a bit slippery. I had an early morning appointment and found myself applying the brakes rather hard. The snow was beautiful as it came down in a perfect winter snowfall. We're supposed to get more snow, but at the moment it has stopped. I'm glad you're safe.

Snow squall yesterday. Today it's been drifting snow with high winds. Tomorrow we are supposed to get another winter storm. Hopefully I'm home from the doctors office before the worst hits.

I hope you are too, as if you are like me, you won't drive in the stuff. I just don't trust myself to drive in it, as I would be afraid I would get into an accident. It is better to stay safe and stay home.

@rosekiss when I was taking driving lessons, in bad weather, I told my instructor I was staying home when the roads were bad. He informed me, I would still need to be able to drive when the roads were bad....this was prophetic. I have driven on road that were impassable, and managed to get to my destination. I had a very small car at one time. Often when I would go in to work the snow would build up under the car in my work driveway. Then with the wheels. O longer on the ground the men would come to clear my driveway and tow me out of the snow. They were always impressed at how far I would get before the snow b came too much.

@Morleyhunt My son doesn't want me driving in bad weather at all, and so I don't. I really don't trust myself anyway, so I would much rather stay home and stay safe, and it is much better that way. I did drive in snow and ice when I was younger and it scared me, when I started spinning out and sliding. I vowed I would never drive in it again, as long as I didn't have to.

Glad that you're home safe and sound. I hate to drive in the snow and especially when it's icy. Be safe.

I refuse to drive in the snow, or ice, so I am also glad that I am home and safe. There is a lot of ice on the trees that is for sure, very pretty, but deadly as well as dangerous.

I did a live video this afternoon about it, and I got close to the limbs that were down, as there are also some down in my driveway, that didn't get in the picture. They are saying that the ice is an inch thick, and it is pretty thick, beautiful, and also dangerous and deadly. I am just glad that my house and rental are both safe and I am too, as well as my tenants
