A Different Kind of Stress and Pressure

I just read from BBC News that five female airport security personnel and their driver were killed on their way to work in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
"They were travelling to work at the airport on Saturday morning when two attackers riding a motorcycle opened fire on their minivan. The women were in charge of searching female travellers at the airport. The airport's director said the women had been concerned about their security after receiving death threats from people who disapproved of their career." (See news link attached below.)
It would not be unnatural for their loved ones, friends and colleagues to feel both grief and anger.
I'm thankful we don't have such limitations here in the Philippines, though I know Filipinas who work in other countries manage to adapt eventually.
Have you ever had a job where you felt stressed and pressured because you were the minority, or the pioneers?
Have you ever had a job that others disapproved of?

in a way media is a double edged sword because now we get to know things that have actually been going for sometime in other places

Horrifying and and hats off to people like that who take up a role that sounds so simple, but is so complicated. Why I am so upset at our election. Sounds like we are jumping back in with these crimes against humanity. I know nothing has officially happened here but does not lead by example and seems to encourage this type of thinking. Just wait though people and music will catch everyone up on this like you did here. Thank You.

i don't understand why they have to do that, if what these women's salaries are helping with basic needs for their family.

I have had job where I have felt pressured because I was a woman. Also because I am Indian and non-Christian. But I got through it.

most of my jobs are not specialized, nor dominated by a particular gender. i guess we're quite homogeneous here in that we're mostly the same race and mostly catholic. i know many ofws (overseas filipino workers) learn to adapt in other countries.
