Today is Saturday, December 17, 2016. This morning at 3:14 the temperature reached -10.7º F (-23.7º C). Right now it’s cloudy and 1º F (-17º C). The forecast for Tuesday, December 20, three days from now and the day before the first day of winter is calling for a rain/snow mix. No, you did not read that wrong. In three days the temperatures are going to go from “colder than a well digger’s butt” to somewhat mild with temperatures as high as 38º F (3.3º C). How can that be? It appears we are going to get a pineapple express. No we are not going to get a big shipment of pineapples. A pineapple express is a warm wind blowing up from the south or southwest bringing up warm air from either California or Hawaii. After our warm day it appears we are going to settle down to normal temperatures for this time of the year. That is hight temperatures from freezing (32º F, 0º C) to lows of about 20º F (-6.6º C). Starting on Christmas day we are forecasted to get snow every day to the end of December with one to three inches every day. So it is pretty certain we will have a white Christmas.
