The nightmare continues

Last week I wrote about all the stressful stuff that happened on the trip to the airport. I'm sitting in the airport waiting for my husband's plane to arrive FOUR HOURS FROM NOW. He missed his connecting flight in Dallas because his first plane was late leaving. I made sure to get here by 4:30 so I wouldn't have to drive in the dark. It's now 6:30 so I only have 3 1/2 more hours. Grrrrr## Oh, on the way here I thought I was getting a flat tire. There was a garage nearby (thank God) and at first told me it would take an hour and a half to fix it. I realized that would put me getting to the airport and parking IN THE DARK! After checking the tire, turned out it was only the sensor. Praise God I got here in the daylight. Now if my husband will arrive in this baggage area, I'm telling him he is never going anywhere without me again. Ever. Sure hope I can find a hamburger in this place that doesn't cost $50.

I bet you can't wait to see your husband. Glad to hear your tire issue was just a censor and nothing more like having to get a new tire. As for getting a burger in the airport big mistake you will definitely pay some big bucks.

You're right. I just paid $6 for a bag of chips and a bottle of orange juice. I refuse to pay $10 for a sandwich.

Sounds like you were having a not so great time. Hopefully you could find a decent burger at a reasonable price.

@1creekgirl that is just wrong. Reminds me of concerts I have been to where a bottle of water is $3!!

@ElusiveButterfly Any time there's no competition, places can charge as much as they want.

No burgers at all and I wasn't going to pay $10 for a sandwich. A bag of chips and a bottle of juice was almost $6. Airports know you can't go anywhere else to eat.

It doesn't sound like you had an easy time at all. I'm sorry to hear that you had such a rough time. Hopefully you did manage to find something to eat that didn't cost you too much. I hope your husband had a safe trip.

So sorry to hear of your airport problems and thank goodness that you only had a sensor problem. Our last breakfast at the airport cost us $52 without the tip! Outrageous!

It really should be illegal to charge that much.

@JudyEv You're right, I'm glad the airport had free Wi Fi. I had brought a book with me, but on about the third page, it had God's name used in a very ugly way, so in the trash it went!

Thanks, Judy. I sure didn't think I'd still be in this airport for 4 hours. But only one and a half to go!

That's bad that your husband missed the flight since it was late. I know it didn't feel alright to wait for someone in the airport alone for such a long time. Besides feeling boring, perhaps you would still keep worried about it until the plane arrived at the airport safe and sound.

It will be great for you to meet up with him again and forget all the things that have happened. Airports are always expensive everywhere here and in England as well.Have a good journey back.

@1creekgirl A stressful wait at the airport. It s a pity that people are exploited like this, especially when it comes to food and beverages.

Waiting around in an airport is never a fun thing to do. At least the arrivals gate at RDU has a Starbucks right next to it, and free Wi-Fi.

@1creekgirl I'm not a fan of the pumpkin spice craze. This time of year I enjoy the caramel brulee.

I see you've flown out of RDU also. I was glad for the free Wi Fi, it helped pass the time while I could be on myLot. I'm not a fan of Starbucks, but I bought a small cup of Pumpkin Spice, really not good and too expensive. I don't mind paying more if I really like something, but airport prices are a rip-off.
