I WENT DOWN WITH THE SHIP.

I once sailed on a writing site called Bubblews , and I had no idea it would become bad news. Everything was fine at first, those who followed the Captain's rules were having themselves a whale of a time. Money flowed and wallets got fat, lots of nice things were bought from the bounty. Then the winds of change began to blow and earnings on that ship got very low. One by one the passengers jumped - but not before raising an alarm. I must say, the Captain and crew tried their best, but there was little they could do to stem the rushing tide. However, the sea once again became calm and some who had disembarked returned with renewed vigor -- but some knew it wasn't going to last, big earnings were a thing of the past. The signs were there, the ship was sinking and sometimes I wonder -what was I thinking? Myself and some faithful others holding on tight, went down with the ship in the dead of night. Like a Captain who doesn't desert his ship, I stayed - and lost 500 articles in the deluge.

Anyone know what happened to that ship in the picture?

I recall seeing that one in the news I think but forget its name. It was a Italian cruise ship perhaps? I think it might have been salvaged but not sure. Oh quick back on topic. Oh yes, the site could have been salvaged. But they didn't want that. I could have done a better job of it and I am not that talented.

Seems it is on its way down, but it could have been salvaged and given a new name -- not quite sure.

@Bluedoll It was a matter of simple economics. Was that the cruise ship which went down and the captain deserted?

Most of the people here have survived the Bubblews shipwreck. I bailed out before the end because I had trouble posting and never got paid.

@Kandae11 I did not save mine either. I did rewrite some of them for here, but with a different slant or point of view. Most of them were much improved over the old Bubble stuff I wrote.

@akalinus Yes, I had a few of mine in notebooks but they were mostly scribbles which I tried to decipher and rewrite. It is always best to be prepared for eventualities.

I wrote on Bubblews after seeing a story on it on our in class news program. My students challenged me to write enough to buy them a pizza. I joined right before the ship hit the first iceberg.

@Kandae11 The first month was nice. Then it began to drop. By the third month it was hardly worth staying on the site for. I do believe the admins took what money there was and ran with it, based on the way they just suddenly shut down the site.

@DWDavis We will never really know what actually went down. I wish if they had given us a clear warning.

I keep copies of all my articles so I'm now using the old Bubblews articles either as they are or as prompts for new ones.

When it sank, there I was scrambling to find the notebooks I had scribbled some of my articles in.

Wow! This is a real site yes? I heard some other myLotters taking. I don't know this site. Sorry to hear you lost your articles. What was the earnings like there per day or month?

Not too sure but it was enough to be unsustainable. You couldn't cash out before reaching $50 - and some achieved that goal in two weeks. I joined the site late - three months before it made drastic changes, so my first month payment was the best - $120.When the site closed, some were owed amounts in the range of $200, $500 and $800.

@Kandae11 Those were good paying rates for blog writing. $120.00 for a month is not bad at all! I am almost a month in myLot and has yet to reach my $5.00 dollar mark!

I quit quite a few months before the fat lady sang and the site closed down. But I do not miss it, I deleted most of my posts because I didn't want my words to be associated with that horrible site.

@Kandae11 That's true, and I did make some friendships which extend to this site, but the admin there was awful-full of lies.

The good thing abut Bubblews is that it was always busy - well it was before the ship started to roll - and a lot of friendships were formed, but of course one can make friends here as well.

Thankfully I got out months before Bubblews closed, although I never got around to deleting most of my articles. I do have copies of all of them though - something I realised was important the first time a payment went missing. One of these days I really should start reworking some of them.

I started here about three weeks before it's demise. I think I was there until almost the end. I didn't lose anything important as everything important is on my hard drive.

I was never a high earner at Bubblews. I'm grateful for the money I did earn, however, but I left in Feb. 2015 after making sure I'd saved all the articles I wanted. I had less than $1 in the bank and could want away from that without too many regrets. While I received all my payments, I knew too many people who didn't. Some were overseas and some in the States. I knew it was just a matter of time and wanted to leave on my terms.

@Kandae11 You were not alone. Before I was at Bubblews, I was at another site called Epinions for about thirteen (?) years. They were not flawless, and they paid nothing like what Bubblews paid, but they were honest. They closed, but they let us download our material. Since then, I've made it a habit to make copies of everything I write that's important to me.
