Although I don't have to face it anymore, it was really not a fun experience while I was still living in Canada. For each time when there was freezing rain, we have to be very careful in driving or just walking in the parking area. We will all be slipped down like an ice bar and sometimes got hurt just like that. For those who never have to face such an experience , please don't response to this discussion because this won't apply to you. I don't like getting response for my discussion such as "I have no problem or not for me , my country has no snow or freezing rain" People who response like that will be deleted. For those who has such experience, just feel free to share with us ?

I live in Canada but for the past four years, I've been in a region that has a fairly mild climate in the winter. I must say that I don't miss the freezing rain at all!
When my oldest daughter was in her first year, we lived through the big ice storm that knocked out power in several Canadian provinces and US States for long periods of time.We had to take shelter with family and friends over a period of almost a week. And then when the power was back on at our home, we had my in-laws stay with us for a few days.
We cooked with a fondue pot and washed the baby's diapers in ice cold water by candlelight. Nobody went to work or left the house if they could help it. The roads were far too dangerous. It took about two weeks to restore order in Montreal, and we had friends living in the Montérégie who were without power for 30 days straight.
